Sometimes I need a *facepalm* icon.

My friend went to see Much Ado About Nothing in Orlando. An older couple came out so they asked how they liked it.

The older couple said they hated how it was in black and white and "in Shakespearean".

I have no words...

Heh. Well assuming by "Shakespearean" they mean having the original dialog then the examples in My Top Ten Shakespeare On Film list do it in four different ways. They do it by 1) being a musical, 2) being sci-fi, 3) being in Japanese with English subtitles, and 4) by being a "Teen Flick." Some of the great things about Shakespeare that keep his work around are that it's a) timeless and b) flexible.

Heh. The sci-fi in question is older than Star Trek. ;) It's the 50's sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet which is a version of The Tempest. :D

lol, imagine a story by Shakespeare sounding Shakespearean! xD

I don't have a facepalm icon, but I do have plenty of FMA with attitude lol.

Stupid knows no boundaries of age, gender, creed, colour or locale. It is an equal opportunity failing. Still, that is a pretty extreme example. Sad.

I think Puck's line from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' says it best.

Heh. Rather than be all depressed by Teh Stoopid how about keeping in mind that they went, and there by contributed to the box office for the movie?

Of ourse a number of my favorite film adaptations of Shakespeare aren't in "Shakespearean," and most of them are in color, Throne of Blood is the only one in black and white, so I can somewhat sympathize with their reaction. The difference is that I wouldn't have gone to the movie without learning what it was going to be like first.

Hahahahahahahaha. I mean, I get that they didn't LIKE that, but hopefully they weren't surprised by it.
