Love Is All You Need

We also went to Love Is All You Need which stars Pierce Brosnan and is very cute and funny. However, it is also in three different languages and employs subtitles. Within fifteen minutes, almost half our audience had left.
God forbid you have to READ during a movie!
Before I got too pissed off, I did remind myself that my best friend in Budapest has seen The Great Gatsby three times but always dubbed because her companions always refuse to read the subtitles so it's not just an American thing...

My mom made me laugh so hard when she leaned over to me and said of the lead character, "She looks like the human equivalent of Miss Piggy. I meant that in a good way, I mean that as a compliment. She's very pretty."

I could totally see what she meant, too.

I'm an anime snob that will always watch subs unless there is nothing but a dub available, so I go out of my way to watch things that I need to read. lol I can't even imagine why you'd want to leave because you needed to read subtitles. :P

I don't mind subs in a theatre, but not at home. I can't concentrate on films in languages I speak - but if they're subbed, no way, can't do it. I just cannot sit and watch a film.

I never found subtitles to be that disruptive to any movie I have watched. In fact I find them preferable to having wooden voice actors that do not suit the characters.
