Crimson Peak, Part 2
Sep. 13th, 2013 12:42 amTom Hiddleston replaced Benedict Cumberbatch. Immediately, there were rumors, currently shot down, that Benedict was up for a villain role in the next Star Wars.
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
NO NO NO NO NO
I have nothing against Benedict. He is a fine actor but I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER FUCKING MALE CAUCASIAN AS THE VILLAIN!
Here's where the die-hard fans get into their separate little outposts...I am old enough that I fit into the traditional trilogy group but young enough that I still enjoyed the prequels. However, the best Star Wars production ever made was Star Wars: The Clone Wars October 3, 2008 – March 2, 2013. Most fans/people don't give this the time of day because "it's a cartoon", but...
Do you know what that series did that no other Star Wars media, apart from books, had ever done before?
It passed the freaking Bechdel test!
It had MULTIPLE female villains!
It had whole episodes revolving around a female lead.
No, I don't want to go backwards from this. I don't want a Caucasian male villain even if he is painted up like Ray Park in Episode One. If you can't give me a female villain, at least give me a non-Caucasian like Joss Whedon did in Serenity with the incredibly awesome Chiwetel Ejiofor.
However, in a completely non-Star Wars capacity, I would love Simon Pegg to be a villain like Lex Luthor or the Riddler but more physical than most. His fight scenes in The World's End were phenomenal! I realize Scotty isn't known for being physical but it really made me wish he was, he looked so natural at it. He also did some not so nice things that made me think he could really kick ass as a proper villain and not the lackey variety like in Doctor Who.
