The new director of Ant-Man has confirmed:

"in the comics Scott Lang has a daughter, and that's part of the movie too."

So, I guess we're back on.

Then, there was this article:
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/08/07/fear-of-a-minority-superhero-marvel-s-obsession-with-white-guys-saving-the-world.html

It made some interesting points although I wish it would have been more thorough. Instead of limiting itself to films released by Marvel, they are including ALL cinematic properties, including Spider-Man.

So, if you're discussing race, why wouldn't you include this?

"Are Miles Morales ("Ultimate Spider-Man"), Ben Reilly (clone Spider-Man) or Miguel O'Hara ("Spider-Man 2099") on the table? If you want a Spider-Man movie every year why not bring in some of the other variations?

Matt Tolmach: No.

Avi Arad: No. The one thing you cannot do, when you have a phenomena that has stood the test of time, you have to be true to the real character inside – who is Peter Parker? What are the biggest effects on his life? Then you can draw in time, and you can consider today's world in many ways. But to have multiple ones… I don't know if you remember, but Marvel tried it. And it was almost the end of Spider-Man.

So Spider-Man in the cinematic realm will always be Peter Parker?

Arad: Absolutely.

Tolmach: As far as we're concerned. The guys who take it over after us… Who knows…"

I can't wait for them not to be involved with anything Marvel so I know my money's not going to them. They're also the ones that ruined the last Spider-Man film by insisting on adding his parents' stuff and the Sinister Six rather than focusing on Gwen and Electro.

But the Daily Beast article also had his sentence that caught my eye:
“Marvel has a writing program it uses as a concept generator and has scripts for Blade and Ms. Marvel features, for example,” they said. “Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Black Panther and The Runaways are other projects on the horizon.”

Please, please, please have the Runaways!!!

The other news I've heard lately hasn't been encouraging but...

I want one.

I didn't really grow up on the Marvel comic too much. I was more of the DC, aka Superman. :p My other big one was The Fantastic Four. I think they are Marvel. Maybe. lol...
I heard recently that they are going to reboot the FF and from what I read I am not happy with choices they are making. Supposedly, they have cast a Black actor to play Johnny Storm. Excuse me, but he's a blonde White guy who has a blonde White sister. UGH... BRING BACK Chris Evans. :o
I am going to guess the lack of minority Super Heros comes down to the bottom dollar in Hollywood. If they don't have a big name it's not going to make big bucks and hence Hollywood isn't going to be interested.
JayZ and Oprah need to start investing some of their billions into making fun movies instead of Oscar contenders. :p
Okay, that is a lame comment, I hope I made some sense for you in there some where. :o
Hugs, Jon
