I remember my parents always checking our candy, but it was more for things that had opened and were handled accidentally for germs.

There were always things on the news about 'razor blades found in x-rayed apples' but who in the hell gives out REGULAR apples?

One neighborhood I lived in, the woman gave out home made candy apples, in each bag was her name, address and an ingredient list, yes I saw some parents through the apples away because they were home made...

There was a morning news show and they recently did a recipe for candy apples. I found it kind of hilarious because it was right after a segment on Alan Turing having killed himself by ingesting a poisoned apple.
