Toy Story 4

The Toy Story franchise means a lot to me and my family. Toy Story 2 was my oldest nephew's first film in the theatre and we took him. The next four years consisted of almost nothing but Toy Story. When I went away to college, it was Toy Story that made me homesick and cry.

Toy Story 3 gave me my favorite character...although I also love Rex and Jessie and Trixie and Chuckles but not as much as Lotso...but it's also my least favorite of the films. It's considerably darker than the others and the wonderful, cuddly pink bear I fell in love with...well, he turned out to be the villain. I've never been able to watch it all the way through again. I tend to look away during the incinerator scene and I always hope for a happier ending, like Jessie where she was abandoned but was able to find a new home and allow herself to love again.

Toy Story 4 has no plot but is supposedly "a love story". I don't know if this is between the toys or Bonnie or Andy or what...poor Bo Peep.

It's being written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. I love Jones as an actress but the main thing they've written together, and only previous feature, was Celeste and Jesse Forever. I was excited about this film, but it ended up being a downer...

So I'm worried about Toy Story 4 although it will inevitably end up in a film that everyone loves and is critically acclaimed but I end up having mixed feelings about.

Also, I'm sad that aside from Sid, the villains never reappear so there won't be any Lotso. Even with the television specials, I keep hoping against hope that he'll appear.

P.S. I would like a fanfic where Daisy Johnson aka you know who from the MCU is Lotso's Daisy but I doubt that will happen either.

If you're interested, and if you like my Doctor Who stories, you may be interested to know that I wrote a Toy Story 3.

This was years back before the Toy Story 3 movie came out, and it was written as an actual Toy Story movie, complete with a little end credits clipreel story, a new version of the "You've got a Friend in Me" song, and footnotes for production and marketing ideas.

The premise is that the toys find an abandoned baby doll in their back alley. A really BIG baby doll. And she's really a baby, she doesn't yet know the rules of being a toy.

And she wreaks havok on Andy's bedroom while Buzz and Woody scour the neighborhood trying to find her family.

I LOVE Toy Story 3. :)
I think I cried two or three times during it. :)
