Here's an advice column from 1915:
How can I kill the worms on my
beans that eat into the edges of the
leaves and roll them over?
ANSWER: Spray with arsenate of
lead, paste at the rate of two pounds
to fifty gallons water. Keep the paste
left in opened can covered with water
to prevent drying out.
