Rhi
"Do you want some chocolate?" Mica asked while waving a bar after dinner. Her mum shook her head.
"But it's chocolate," she pointed out. She had never turned down chocolate before and she hadn't eaten anything for dinner.
"I'm not hungry," Rhi maintained as she sat on her chair.
"Please," Mica begged because it scared her.
"Stop it! I'm not a child!" Rhi snapped and frowned, "I'm sorry, I'm just..."
Mica looked at her dad who was studying his wife.
"I'm just going to sleep," her mum spoke.
"Here? What about your bed upstairs?" he asked. Rhi gazed at the stairs for a moment and shook her head.
"No, I'm too tired for that, I'll be fine" she spoke and Mica went outside to sit in the yard for a bit. Why did her mum have to be so stubborn? It was bad enough that she was refusing to see Iefan. Now with this, it felt like she was giving up. Mica took out her mobile and said, "Call David."

David slid the mobile back into his pocket and gripped the steering wheel. Then, the passenger door opened and Emyr came in from his evening class. The sunset still glowed in the west and students surrounded them. Some of them would point to David and whisper to their mates. Everyone seemed to know about his fight with Forman. It felt worse than when he first came out years ago.
"Just ignore them, they'll find something new to talk about soon enough," Emyr spoke and gave him a brief kiss on the lips. To be honest, David liked the distraction from what was really bothering him, but it couldn't last.
"I was just talking with Mica. She's worried about mum. She's not eating like she should," David admitted and felt Emyr put an arm around him, "I just don't know what to do. She said she didn't want me to quit or worry about her, but...then she does stuff like this."
Mica had sounded a little scared during their talk and he had tried to reassure her, but now he couldn't do the same to himself.
"It's a bit late tonight, but how about we visit them tomorrow?" Emyr suggested and David nodded. It was a good idea. He could see for himself and maybe try a protein drink or something. Perhaps they could borrow Iefan for a bit.

Rhi woke up and the house was dark. Johnny and Mica must have already been asleep. She hated being irritable with everyone. Everyone knew she had a temper when the right buttons were pushed, but this was unplanned, like anything could set her off. It didn't help that she was so tired and the thought of eating didn't interest her at all. She didn't want to be treated as an invalid or kid. An adult should be able to get through this with no problems. Still, she saw their expressions. She knew what they were thinking and she wasn't about to give up. It would be better tomorrow and to make that happen, she'd sleep in her own bed with Johnny. Things were always better with his arms around her. Rhi made her way to the foot of the stairs, grabbed the railing and pulled herself onto the first step. She did this over and over again despite becoming more and more tired. Eventually, she only had a few more steps to go. She grabbed the bannister in a spot that was a little higher so she could pull herself up, but her legs refused to budge. Rhi tried harder to make them move and lost her grip on the bannister. Then, she fell down the stairs.

The moon was shining on the back garden when Jack heard screaming from upstairs.
"Taddy!" Iefan screamed in between incoherentness. He ran up the stairs and into his bedroom. Alice entered behind him in a dressing gown. Jack picked up his son who was wet and sticky and realised not all of it was sweat. Part of the sheets and mattress had been soaked with urine.
"He's wet the bed," Jack spoke, but it sounded like more than that. He stuck a hand against Iefan's forehead and it was burning up.
"His cold's gone worse," he uttered and started to hurry to the bathroom. If he could draw him a bath and make him more comfortable, he could search the medicine cupboard to see if he still had anything from last time. Just as he switched on the light, his mobile rang downstairs.
"I'll get it," Alice offered and he nodded since he doubted it would be Gwen. They hadn't talked in about a week. He stripped Iefan of his clothes and nappy before running the water as cold as he could. Then, he put Iefan under it and washed everything off.
"You're a brave little boy," Jack whispered, "This will be over in no time and you'll be running around with Lula again."
Lula was watching near the door with large blue eyes; utterly confused about what was going on. Jack wrapped Iefan in a big, fluffy towel although he wasn't saying anything, just crying softly. Then, there were footsteps behind him and he turned to see Alice with a worried expression.
"Dad, it's Rhi. She's fallen down the stairs and they've taken her to Emergency," she spoke and Jack felt like someone had yanked on his heart.
"What?" he asked in disbelief.
"Mica wouldn't tell me anything else," she said and he held Iefan closer. He couldn't watch Iefan and see about Rhi at the same time.
"I could watch Iefan, I've been through my share of sick kids before," she said with an almost smile. As much as he hated leaving Iefan, he would also be worrying the whole time about Rhi and her condition. Jack nodded.
"I will have my mobile so phone me if anything at all comes up. Sometimes, they make me turn it off so keep trying until you reach me or my answer box," he said and waited for a response.
"I will," Alice promised. He threw on his coat and Alice met him at the door.
"Your modi is sick, too, but I'll be back as soon as I can, I love you," Jack spoke and kissed Iefan whose forehead still felt hot. He turned his attention to Alice and continued, "I may have something in a drawer in the kitchen with the medicine. If not, I'm going to leave his car seat so you can go to Boots if need be."
Alice nodded, saying, "I hope she's fine."
Then, he took out the car seat and left. As quick as he could, he sped to the hospital in Newport and looked for a familiar face. He didn't recognize anyone so he went to the desk.
"I'm looking for Rhiannon Davies," he said and the older lady raised an eyebrow.
"Who's asking?" she questioned and played with her pen.
"Her brother," he lied although it was half-true. She studied him for a second with her brown eyes.
"They're down the hall waiting. I doubt they have a room yet," she said and pointed before a young woman walked by, "Padma, could you take this man to the Davies family? They're with Rhiannon."
"Yes, ma'am," she replied and he followed her through gleaming double doors and into a corridor where he saw all four of them seated in chairs. They were quiet and pensive.
"Jack, you came," David said with surprise and Mica smiled.
"How is she?" he asked and Johnny sighed.
"She was talking, they said that was good, but...but," he sputtered and shook his head, "They took her away for tests and when she's done, she'll have her own room."
It seemed pretty good. They'd just have to wait...Jack hated waiting. He sat down in a chair and wondered how Iefan was doing.
"Do you think it's because she stopped eating?" Mica asked Johnny and Jack perked up. He didn't know she had stopped eating.
"That's something for your mum and I to discuss with the doctors. You don't need to worry about it," Johnny spoke but Jack knew that wouldn't do any good. Mica was too inquisitive. She had to know everything. They sat and sat and sat until a woman came out.
"Johnny Davies?" she asked and when Johnny raised her hand, she went over to him, "Your wife is doing very well, just some bruising and a slight concussion. We're going to monitor her and discuss changing some of her medications. I don't like some of her levels. Follow me and I'll take you to her."
