Day 13 - Least favorite movie

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, no question...

Dolores Umbridge...(cringes), Sirius dies, Harry is being angsty and whiny like Anakin, Harry continues to hate Snape and we get political parallels that get more disturbing every day...

Okay, most of my problems would be with the book itself, but it's very difficult to watch at times. Umbridge alone makes me want to hit something especially when her words don't sound that different from stuff I've heard on C-Span and news channels.

Yes, they did the twins' triumphant exit but it's not quite the same as the book with the lovely swamp and the way the professors helped.

They also TOTALLY MESSED UP Snape's scene in the pensieve!

Day 14 - Team Voldemort or Team Harry

Team Harry, duh!

Well, I may play around with other wizards, too...that is a Harry Potter shirt I'm wearing though.

Day 15 - Who would be your best friends at Hogwarts (Three Only)

Hannah Abbott
Neville Longbottom
Luna Lovegood

Apparently, Hannah and Neville end up getting married.

Day 16 - Who is your favorite Death Eater?

You should be able to guess that by now, but the icon is also a clue.

Although technically...

Severus Snape wasn't yours. Snape was Dumbledore's, Dumbledore's from the moment you started hunting down my mother. And you never realized it, because of that thing you can't understand. You never saw Snape cast a Patronus, did you, Riddle?

Gives me goosebumps, even now.

Day 17 - Are you excited about the Deathly Hallows movies or scared they won’t do the book justice?

BOTH!

I loved being able to see stuff finally but then, they changed a lot and Part 2 is...where everyone else I love dies...

So, I have some of that trepidation I had before At World's End which had a similar death toll of favorite characters but this actually has a much higher body count.

Plus, I understand that while being two or three hours long, there is a very real possibility that some of those characters will get very limited screen time...I'm a bit scared about "A Prince's Tale". They have to get that RIGHT or else Harry's feelings don't change and nothing else can transpire, definitely not "probably the bravest man I ever knew."

At least, I've been spoiled by the epilogue filming, I know all the important players were there.

I'm also sort of dreading Deathly Hallows because it's THE END.

Of all of it, I mean we'll still have new readers and that's wonderful, but it's weird.

When I first read Harry Potter, I was 16 and it wasn't cool for high school juniors to read. No one else in school had read it. I would try to read pages to my two year old nephew or let him look at the pictures, but he wasn't too interested.

Now, I'm 28, graduated college and finally got that nephew, now thirteen, to read all of them himself...and it's crazy popular in a way none of us would have imagined then except for McGonagall.

He'll be famous - a legend - there will be books written about Harry - every child in our world will know his name!

And not just children, the first time they held midnight parties when Goblet of Fire came out? The news scoffed, like those kids and the weird things they make their parents do.

Now, the current media has often freely admitted to being fans in public, even reading the book on their national show.

We even have a whole Harry Potter theme park section which I suppose might be part of why I haven't gone yet. Once this final film is out, that's one of the final fangirl things to do. It's a lot more attainable than playing Quidditch (although I will one day), visiting Scotland or stalking seeing Jo Rowling in public.

Day 18 - Least favorite book

This seems so familiar...right, I basically did the same thing four hours ago.

My least favorite book would also be Order of the Phoenix although I do love the blue cover except I take the covers off. Then, it's just blue and grey whereas Half-Blood Prince is just bad-ass with the cover off...purple and black.

Deathly Hallows used to be a close second in terms of favoritism and me not liking it. However, I do like it a little more each time I read it. I still hate all the deaths and the camping...please, please make the camping stop. I get so tempted to skip along or wish they'd come across Gollum...

I do love the parts about what's going on in the rest of the world especially Hogwarts and Neville being bad-ass and when Harry lays it out at the end. I never thought the epilogue was that bad either although it could either be very Aww or very hilarious depending on how the make-up and all looks on-screen.

Day 19 - Do you prefer the books or the movies

BOOKS!

I know you typically like the medium where you encountered the story first which would be the books but they just leave out so much of the books in the films. You can't get a feel for the rhyming quality of that very first chapter or literary devices she uses. The films are very compact and abridged and lack those special little details that make the story so awesome like the Marauder's Map creators!

Day 20 - If you got to meet one member of the cast, who would it be?

Emma Thompson!

I'd want to pick her brain...but not literally, that would be gross.

This is Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie from 1986.

ericadawn16: (Weird)
Day 21 - Out of all the characters that died, if you could bring one back, who would it be?

Well, there's the stipulation, ONE. I'm not about to bring back anyone if their spouse has to stay dead. I also don't want to bring people back when their life was kind of sad or if they seemed okay with it in the forest.

So, there was one person who really stuck out...

I found two tribute videos so you can watch

Bon Jovi )
or

Sappy )

Day 22 - Harry Potter or Twilight

Seriously? Is that supposed to be a hard decision?

Harry Potter all the way!!!! It's way better written.

Harry Potter also had had Robert Pattinson first although I suppose that's a bit petty since they had Jamie Campbell Bower first...they better have more Grindelwald in the second film. There was no Ariana, no explanations...most importantly, no blatant clues that he and Albus were totally lovers!

Anyway, I never found Robert Pattinson that attractive but he's very cute here:

Day 23 - Any part of the books or movies that makes you cry?

Well, the last four movies have made me cry but more meaningful is the first time I read Deathly Hallows.

Initial excitement got me through page 67. Page 476 on the other hand, that was really bloody hard. It did help that I had just taken a four hour nap twenty pages before so I was still a little out of it.

Page 661 was the absolute final straw. I wailed, I screamed, I cried like a baby.

I put the book in the freezer.

I called Amanda and [livejournal.com profile] serenaprn and we tried to console each other. They both suggested WATCH COUPLING NOW!

I did and it calmed me down. I was able to take the book out of the freezer and finish the rest.

...but seeing it on screen in July?

I'm going to be a sobbing mess in front of everyone. It's scary.

Day 24 - Any particular scene you wished would have been put in the movie, but wasn’t?

DEATHDAY PARTY! DEATHDAY PARTY!!!!!

Have I mentioned before how my absolute favorite Disney ride is The Haunted Mansion?

And this is what it's like when you live in Florida, you get dance classes like mine in college where she asked what we wanted to learn and the whole class said how they wanted to learn the waltz...half said like Anastasia and half said like The Haunted Mansion.

Dammit, they didn't even film it!

This has some of the dancing I'm talking about, plus their own ghost feast:

Day 25 - Nineteen years later. Are you happy how it turned out, or do you wish something was different, ie Neville married Luna

I'm good with all of it except some of the names...

Rose is forever ruined by Doctor Who and cannot refer to anyone except a certain blonde. Also, just because someone dies doesn't mean you HAVE to name a kid after them although I'm fine with middle names.

And if you didn't understand why I put the book in the freezer, this is why:
