Patton Oswalt on Agents of SHIELD
Apr. 15th, 2014 12:47 amI'm excited about having Patton Oswalt on Agents of SHIELD. Yes, he's a fan favorite and that's always fun but it's more than that.
It's about his stand-up act in 2012 or more specifically, the show I caught on a free HBO weekend where he badmouthed Hawkeye for a good five minutes...or what felt like five minutes.
I know it's comedy. I know Hawkeye is the obvious choice for making of Avengers. I know people make fun of him all the time. I know all of this but...
I HATE when people make fun of Hawkeye. Aside from Bruce and maybe a few others, Clint had it the WORST growing up. It's like the story that teenagers write for maximum woobie but it's all canon.
Still, Clint made something of himself. He joined SHIELD to make a difference, help people.
What's so endearing about Hawkeye, why I love them so much is...
They are both complete fuck-ups. They almost can't help it and that gives me hope because I feel like a fuck-up a lot of the time but here are superheroes, Avengers even and they're complete fuck-ups. I love it. They just get on with what they need to do and try to make the best out of things.
Now that Patton Oswalt has a canon MCU character, and one who appears to be a SHIELD agent at that, I get to imagine all sorts of scenarios where he repeats his feelings on Hawkeye to either the wrong person or gets overheard by the wrong person.
Beautiful.
Try insulting Clint in front of Coulson, just try it. I dare you.
