Civil War by Stuart Moore
Jul. 19th, 2014 02:11 amOkay, I have just finished Civil War by Stuart Moore. Honestly, if I had noticed this part of the acknowledgements, I'm not sure if I would have read the book at all:
"My wife, Liz Sonneborn, was unfailingly supportive as I took notes late into the night, pulled out my hair over minor plot points, and paced around the house muttering obscure questions like 'Is it too confusing to have two characters called Hawkeye in one book?' (Answer: Yes.)"
What the FUCK!??????
First of all, to my recollection, Clint isn't even in the fucking Civil War until after Steve dies and Steve's death ISN'T EVEN IN THE BOOK!!!!!!
Second of all, since this change had to be permitted by Marvel, why does Marvel think that two characters with DIFFERENT names would be too confusing in a book but having two characters named Thor will be absolutely fine??
Third, and this also pertains to new female Thor, does this "confusion" explain why Kate Bishop is in the comics and the game, "Marvel Heroes" and that's IT??? No merchandising whatsoever??
There are also NO RUNAWAYS!
Thank goodness, a local library has the graphic novel where the Runaways meet the Young Avengers.
However, if you aren't a purist, it seems to be a good book, preserving the initial quandaries of life, liberty and who gets to pursue happiness. It has also been updated to include Obama, Twitter and MCU references like Christine Everhart.
