"Year of a Million Cuts."
Sep. 30th, 2014 08:55 pm"Year of a Million Cuts."
I saw this elsewhere to describe all the Disney closings and banishments to Walt Disney World and it is sadly, very apt.
Confirmed:
Push the Talking Trashcan is no more. I loved that can.
American Idol Experience
I'm okay with this because it does seem to have passed its point of relevance although some of the guests were really amazing.
American Film Institute Showcase
You bastards, I loved this one. Where else could you be able to study Davey Jones' organ, get your photo taken with a Darth Vader suit or pretend to be scared by an actual Alien from the film? Plus, getting to study all those costume details up close, like for Enchanted, was just AMAZING. My only disappointed was while they had Cutler Beckett's costume, they never had James Norrington's costume. You know I would have totally freaked out over that.
Off Kilter- final performance 9/27/2014
Mo'Rockin- final performance 9/27/2014
World Showcase Players- final performance 9/25/2014
Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps- final performance 9/27/2014
I especially loved Off Kilter. I hope everyone is able to go onto better things.
The Maelstrom
I actually...don't entirely mind this. I was always kind of disappointed. I wanted it to be scarier and to have more trolls. The brochures all have the troll and then, it looks like it should have a drop like a flume ride...but it doesn't. Would I wish for a more established entity rather than a franchise that's less than a year old? Absolutely, but they could always replace it again in twenty years...I can't help hoping that in twenty years they would have worked out something with Universal so they could incorporate Asgard and those who reside there...
My only request is that they keep the Stave Church because apart from the trolls, that's my favorite and most tourists just ignore it. Inside they have awesome weapons replicas and things. I also hope they will have the ice monster because that's my favorite Frozen character. He was awesome on Once Upon a Time last night.
Backlot Tour
You bastards again! First of all, they had part of the bow from the Black Pearl, a dragon cannon from the Empress and other Pirates of the Caribbean props right in the queue line so you could see them up close. Then, you could volunteer to be in an actual scene of a fake disaster film. I eventually played every role, My favorite was to be in the cabin so all the water gets dumped on you. Then, you get to see more props from films, like a cab from the Muppets, the Chinese Dragon from The Sorcerer's Apprentice, stuff from Tron and so much more. The actual tour on the vehicle had Walt Disney's own plane and Imagineers at work, plus more props, like the bone cage. However, my mom really loved Catastrophe Canyon. They act like they're going to blow up a oil tanker and depending on where you sit, you could get totally drenched.
Where is it all going to go? In storage so no one can see it? To California because we're just lowly Florida and don't deserve such things even though we have more visitors?
Rumored:
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playground
Again, this is dated so I think this is a wise decision...I always wanted them to turn it into Endor. However, the rumor is that it wouldn't be an isolated closure. The rumor is that it will also include...
Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
Dammit, I LOVE this thing and I love how it's different every time, like some would have Herbie split and some wouldn't have Herbie at all. The only bad part is that the bleachers get incredibly hot because you know...Florida!
But that's still not all of the rumor...
Streets of America
With the possible exception of Muppet*Vision 3D because aside from a pre-parade parade, they literally have NO OTHER MUPPET ATTRACTIONS!, the entire set-up of street sets would be removed which also means...
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
Fucking hell, that's just fun to watch. We content ourselves with the slightly local outdoor mall's version but it's still nowhere near as good as this. I know it's an absolute waste of resources especially electricity but being surrounded by flickering colored lights while the closest thing I've experienced to snow falls on me...it's just magical.
The Lake
One rumor had them filling in the lake for more space to put things and I only have one thing to say about that.
DON'T YOU DARE MESS WITH GERTIE!
So...what might we be getting instead?
Star Wars Land
I do want Endor, besides that...I don't know. I'm torn from being a fangirl and not wanting them to just whip something up to compete with Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. I'm also worried about Disney using any possible expansion to make us like all future films more and I don't like the idea of being forced to like something just because of liking previous films in that franchise especially when Star Wars has such a haphazard record with me.
And why couldn't we have gotten The Shire instead of stupid Pandora for Animal Kingdom???
Cars Land
DO NOT WANT! Yes, I like Cars but the main ride is just a different form of Test Track which we already have. A friend suggested they we get Planes land instead which I think would be more fun but I don't think those films did well enough.
Expanded Pixar Place
Give me that Monsters, Inc roller coaster you've always rumored about and you will probably have me.
The main thing is that this is Disney's Hollywood Studios. At its core, it was supposed to be about the magic of MAKING movies. I know props and sets and sound recordings like the old days would probably sound boring but the fact that modern film-making is more and more just a room with blue or green walls with some spare props just makes it that much more important that kids know the history. Isn't there some way of making that fun? If you change too much, then the park isn't for its original intended purpose at all and might as well be Disney Florida Adventure.
My mom was quite angry about it. She accused the current Disney management of being WORSE than Eisner!

Chris Brown
Sep. 30th, 2014 09:39 pmWhen celebrities do horrible things, it's easy to write them off forever but as a Christian, I know I am supposed to forgive and them a second chance.
I decided to read this interview with Chris Brown and I'm glad I did. I like that he was honest about his struggles and that he's still getting help for it.
“I think it’s all about the choices you make. With me, I deal with a lot of anger issues from my past – not knowing how to express myself verbally and at the same time not knowing how to cope with my emotions and deal with them and understand what they are. So I think help is great. I still talk to my therapist twice a week, and it helps me to…if I’m frustrated and I’m dealing with something, to vent and say what I’m going through so I can hear from an actual clinical person, ‘this is how you should react,’ or ‘it’s good to feel this way because feelings, emotions, and energy are supposed to come and go.
Chris continued, “It’s not supposed to stay there, you’re not supposed to keep it inside, because it’ll bottle up and you’ll become a monster.”
This is why being able to talk with others is so important and why I was so upset with a photo shared by one of my Facebook friends. The photo said to keep everything in because no one cares about your problems but you.
As Brown says, that only creates monsters.
