The red flower is a hibiscus. It's the national flower of Malaysia. Comes in a beautiful variety of other colours as well

Nope, sorry. That's an amaryllis--y'know, the flower everyone gives at Christmastime. *G* They look a lot like hibicus but they are completely different species. *G*

The red flower is an amaryllis. Yeah--y'know, those flowers that people give others at Christmas. Someone must have gotten one (it looks like 'Red Lion', one of the most popular red single cultivars) and planted the bulb after the flower died off. Amaryllis bloom in early springtime ---I have been forcing these for Christmas for years and always end up with bunches in the garden from Christmases gone by. It's beautiful!
