So, fifteen years ago, I always had sort of mixed feelings about The Ambiguously Gay Duo. Was it funny or was it making fun of gays?
I also had no idea who the voices were at that point:
Ace is played by Stephen Colbert and Gary is played by Steve Carell

Well, they had them again last night and I've decided it's hilarious especially how stupid everyone else is while Ace and Gary are so secure with themselves.

It was the highlight of SNL last night; Ace, Gary and everyone else get hit by ray that makes them real so it becomes live action.
Ace: Jon Hamm
Gary: Jimmy Fallon
Bighead: Steve Carell
Dr. Brainio: Stephen Colbert
Also, Ed Helms and Fred Armisen

I know it's not very plausible but I kind of want more live action Ace and Gary, maybe a webseries?

I KNOW!!!

Oh, your icon and my mentioning Steve Carell reminded me, Catherine Tate is supposed to be on The Office this week!!!!

I'm such a sad fangirl. NBC is like Jim Carrey, Ray Romano, James Spader!!!! and I'm like who cares, CATHERINE TATE, BABY!!!!

I think it's marvellous that she managed to land a guest role on such a big comedy. <3

When I watched it last night, I was wondering if that was Steve Carell.
I've kinda missed him on The Office. I didn't think I would, but Will Ferrell really wasn't funny as the new boss. I was glad when they got rid of him. I can't wait for the new boss interviews this week. I think the only big name comedian not guest starring as an interviewee is like Bill Murray or one of the Monty Pythons.

I love Stephen Colbert on the Colbert Report but it was really cool seeing him play a different character. He's been doing the "Report" soo long you forget he's playing a character.

I was so busy loving all the funny that the only person I recognized was Jon Hamm but I knew Gary was someone I should know but damn, that blond...Jimmy looks totally different that way.

I think that was the point of Will Ferrell's character, that he was supposed to be unliked and pave the way for Dwight like on the original. However, unlike Gareth, Dwight's reign was short-lived and probably more believable. I'll be curious what happens with his character now. Anyway, I kind of wonder whether next season will be the end, regardless of the new boss or what happens. Only having one season could allow for a bigger name boss, too.

One of the applicants this week is Catherine Tate and I can't wait, I'm assuming the writers won't waste her. Too bad I doubt she can be the permanent boss because of her commitment to Much Ado about Nothing which better come out on dvd! She plays Beatrice to David Tennant's Benedick...oh how awesome that would be to watch!

Hehe, well, Logo is helping with that misconception of Stephen Colbert. They've been having Strangers with Candy and I have it on series record so I can watch them over and over. If you haven't seen it, it's a real treat, created by Stephen, Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello with lots of guest stars like Andy Richter (his wife was a regular), Janeane Garofalo and Winona Ryder.

Here's a clip, err make that two, I couldn't decide...

I remember Strangers with Candy from Comedy Central. Stephen Colbert was such a baby face.

I think that was the point of Will Ferrell's character, that he was supposed to be unliked and pave the way for Dwight like on the original.

Yeah, I know your right. I just kept waiting for him to do something funny and it never happened. I felt "laugh teased". ;) Especially, after the Beastie Boys video, which also had Rainn Wilson and Will Arnett (and every comedian in Hollywood, as well, just like the new boss interviews.)

However, unlike Gareth, Dwight's reign was short-lived and probably more believable.

I totally agree. Dwight's reign was definitely more believe-able and kind of sad how it went down. I felt bad for Dwight. He was actually an effectual boss(ie he got the job done despite no one liking him or his policies) but he let his ego/fantasy life get the better of him. I really liked how they handled his exchange with Jo at the end.

He was hysterical in the "trailer" for the Beastie Boys video.

I saw this when it aired on the West Coast. Frakkin' brilliant! Would've loved it all the more if JB and GDL were playing Ace & Gary! ;)
