Flower, Part 2

I had an unidentified flower which wound up in an impasse because I couldn't get close enough...

BUT I found them in a new place this year as well as the old one!







Luckily, I got those because I found out today that the new location had been bulldozed.

This one almost through me off.
I immediately said Hibiscus, but then I saw the stock and leaves. 100% not Hibiscus.
It's a White Prickly Poppy.

looks like some sort of white poppy to me--defitiely related to the poppy family.

Yeah, I've got thistles all over my yard. The flowers are pretty but they (the plants) are prolific and take over everywhere. They are damned hard to get rid of and populate like dandelions (airborne seeds)
well, now i feel bad!
i've been cursing at them using the wrong name...calling them a type of thistle...who knew they were actually a FLOWER!
they are still prolific, annoying and reall, really hard to be rid off. They also get to be HUGE with big prickly covered leaves and stems.
