I guess because all the cool kids are doing it...what I thought about the first episode of Miracle Day.

Spoilers, of course

So, first five minutes?

Eww, just eww, I know he's a despicable man but I take no enjoyment in the twitching and crap. I would have happily not have a pedophile at all...

I don't like the new credits, made me think too much of ER...although I have been watching season four. Season four was one of the best and also happened to be the first season with Alex Kingston. I love her.

Sorry, but anytime there's large scale info-wiping in the Dr Who universe, I immediately think BAD WOLF!

Also, do all Yvonnes automatically get elevated to high statuses in protection organizations? Because that worked so well before...

Rex, I really wanted to like you since you seemed so badass in the trailer and you look good, but you're currently acting like an asshole so...SHAPE UP, dammit. However, I did notice that his medical contact was his dad so my story is not completely undone...I'm going to say he didn't come because he was busy on dead Doctor business...

Isn't it nice when you have a conveniently placed large fountain right in front of large windows when you're running from an explosion?

I both loved and hated when Jack mentioned understanding about getting people killed... You can definitely still see the effect of Ianto and Steven on him although new viewers would probably just assume he's supposed to be a serious character?

I thought maybe he'd use Ianto's name but Owen works, too although he's still technically used Owen Harper before but TIE!!! HE'S WEARING A TIE! WOOO!
*Brownie points/fic if anyone can prove it's actually from Ianto's collection*

Now, some people have thought Vera was weird for defending the charred suicide bomber from having his head chopped off but she appears to be a doctor more than a scientist. Why inflict unnecessary pain on the living corpse? She kind of reminded me of Owen and "Meat" in that moment.

At first, I felt sorry for Gwen's parents not having seen their grandchild since birth but if she's going to insist on comments about her weight and such...I can see why limited exposure is better.

I also agreed with Rhys about how much they've sacrificed in order to be safe and everything, plus, he also knew Ianto and to a lesser extent, Owen and Tosh, but then, Gwen apparently can't be completely happy without being in the Police or Torchwood. Although he has tried to make her happy, having his and hers gun cabinets and letting her show him how it's done. I liked Gwen being a little more vulnerable though, more mature than she was.

However, Rhys lost me when he thought immortality would be GOOD for Anwen. Seriously, when has Jack ever made that into a good thing? The only thing I could think of was that they were planning to fix the two of them up when she was legal or something...

You know, in fanfic, Jack always stops healing as a result of being knocked up...

My mom's take: that's what he gets for getting everyone killed last time.

When Jack said he didn't do the massive Torchwood shout-out, I was like *fingers crossed* Ianto?

It was dark, a lot darker than Children of Earth, but what struck me wasn't the yuck stuff but the lack of humor. I really missed Jack and Ianto's wit. It also came off a bit of a mess with a bunch of stuff: some which is cool and some is just whatever. I wouldn't need to see the credits to guess Rusty wrote it.

I'm really looking forward to the Jane Espenson and Doris Egan episodes, but I'm also torn about Jack. As much as I wanted to see some fallout from CoE and the people he lost, it's really hard to see him like this. I wonder, How do we fix Jack? Not whether he's immortal or not, but getting a real grin back instead of just going through the motions. No, I don't think sex with a bartender is going to do anything since the Doctor's already tried that with Alonzo.

Rex was an asshole in the car scene, but I thought him getting to Wales was hilarious. I don't know what that even was with him limping out of the hospital, but not letting the bridge thing go... "Man, what the hell is this bridge?"

OMG. I've never read Torchwood fic before. Although, legal Anwen/Jack seems like a definite prompt!

I thought it was good, although a little disjointed in places. However, it was the first episode and it was introducing characters and the plot line. I don't think that viewer who are not Torchwood followers would get some of the references such as Jack not healing and what it means. Maybe it will be explained more in episodes, such as how he got that way, etc. The use of the name Owen Harper and 456 would only be meaningful to TW fans. Loveed the extended role of Rhys and Andy. Anwen is just a cutie, and I like the name. I think it means beautiful in Welsh. JB said in a recent interview that Ianto would be mentioned. I sure it is all our hope that Jack says how much he loved and misses him, but I'm not holding my breath. Did you listen to the first radio play today that is set pre-COE. It was so good to hear the bantering between Jack and Ianto again. I wonder why these were made and placed prior to COE? I though RTD wanted us to "move on" from the whole Jack/Ianto thing. I read a blurb on the play coming on this Wed that Ianto fans would be "happy" with it. Hmm--isn't that what they said about COE?

Yes, that's where I got to know her first and became a fan. I was one of the few that when I found out she was going to be on DW, I was like, YES!!!! Does she get to be a future companion?

Glad for the recap of sorts! I haven't watched it (and probably won't since I'm not a Torchwood fan) but I like to keep up with what's going on with the show anyway for some reason. I can't explain it but I always knew all the plotlines without ever watching the show. LOL

I think I just don't like not knowing what's going on all over the DW universe. Even if it's a show I don't watch, it's still relevant to me.
