I forgot to point out in my Captain America review that they totally used the Doctor Who meaning of "dancing" which I found hilarious. It could have gone either way but they definitely confirmed it with "fondue" misunderstanding.

So, I know I should have done Torchwood: Miracle Day episodes 3 and 4 way before now but there was a lot to them and LJ was being attacked and...

(shrugs)

Gwen's badass, Esther's annoying and Ianto's ghost is prevalent

Really, I loved the whole working together as a team and then Gwen lays out the spike strip, excellent. Yay, Doctor Who quote!

Okay, I'm aware that there was a run on groceries so she had to go to the Quik Stop or whatever but I'm presuming it was ransacked, too? Otherwise, I'm not buying that all they had was chips. What decent convenience store doesn't have the full gammit of crappy cappuccino, peanuts, hot dogs, pretzels and even sandwiches depending on the time or whether there's a Subway involved? Heck, the one in Clerks even had freaking eggs and everything.

However, I did like how Gwen's the one to do it rather than the new people and how she probably got the idea from Ianto. Has there been a drabble done about her thinking about Ianto while getting supplies?

Esther...the translations were just annoying. I get one or two things but...you passed my limit. Plus, I totally thought Brits would know "cock-blocked", I know Janto fans certainly do. *coughs* Rhys and his beans *coughs*

Vera is starting to get on my nerves also. Yep, the doctor man has a different opinion and based on his employment, he's probably Catholic but I absolutely HATED "I was a Catholic, too, once. I got over it."

NOT ALL CATHOLICS ARE AGAINST ABORTION RIGHTS!!! In fact, an ABC News poll from earlier this year said that 62% of Catholics support legal abortion while only 53% of Protestants felt the same. Stating her annoyance with her former religion was totally unnecessary because he doesn't have to change his fundamental beliefs, just this one aspect. Besides, we have free speech, he can say even malformed, babies who have no chance at any sort of meaningful life are babies, too and you are perfectly free to ignore him while saying "Fuck You" in your head. I know Rusty likes to rewrite so it was one of those things that made me wonder whether it was Rusty or Jane's idea.

Rex continues to be an asshole. Yes, it's always good to remind people how they get everyone killed. (rolls eyes) He must be quite the hit at parties, like that guy in Can't Hardly Wait who's constantly reminding people of their worst moments ever, Remember that time you threw up in your bookbag on the class trip?

Jack was getting better. There seemed to be more of a spring in his step, then Rex had to remind him about Ianto. Naturally, Jack does what Ten encouraged him to do: find the nearest bar, drink and possibly get laid. Then, to add insult to injury, the bartender LIKES the coat! You can see in Jack's eyes that he's thinking of the first time Ianto had told him that. They go home and naked and...

Yay! Safe sex! You so rarely get safe sex on TV even though AIDS is on the rise among certain demographics and there are other complications as well. Not that Jack is a perfect sex role model...Yes kids, you too can go to bed with complete strangers you just met as long as there's a condom involved!

On the other hand, the condom use could also be a way around the awkward conversation of...So, I could get pregnant especially since I'm mortal at the moment and who knows what all that entails...

It should be noted though that Jack seems to be in control the whole time which I kind of wonder further confirms the theory that Jack liked having Ianto in control before. *coughs* Fragments Jack tied-up *coughs* Of course, butt shots are always nice but then you have Jack awake and drunk dialing Gwen who also immediately brings up Ianto. I mean it's been two years but they are in the middle of this global crisis, either way, Gwen seemed a little judgmental and not that Jack really needed it. It's plain that the sex was meaningless and empty and just proved how much Jack missed him. Jack...the stoic one, the one that tries to be strong for everyone, that makes the hard decisions...he's practically begging Gwen on the phone to tell him everything will be fine and admitting how much he wishes Ianto was here. He's an absolute mess which is horrible from a feeling bad for Jack standpoint, but wonderful to prove how much he loved Ianto and cared about Tosh and Owen. Of course, Steven is also weighing heavily on his mind but this is a post-sex call...
Then, to further Jack being all alone, even Gwen hangs up without any warning although Anwen continues to be one of the cutest babies ever.

*wraps her in breathable bubble wrap so Rusty and Jane can't hurt her*

Vera, Vera, Vera...really? A guy breaks into your house, a former patient that's obviously crazy or at the very least, an asshole...and you think it's okay to sleep with him? Geez, that was disturbing.

I really loved the exchange between Jack and Oswald although I wondered what a first-time, never seen the first three seasons, viewer would get from it. Are they going to explain Steven later, or...
The biggest thing though is that Oswald picked a random student and he enjoyed it. It was entirely his choice to kill her. Jack didn't really have a choice. He either had to kill his grandson; his daughter's only child or risk millions of kids being used as cheap crack cocaine for aliens. He LOVED Steven so he's truly suffering for that as well. I finally get the whole Doctor forgiving him thing Rusty tried to explain about End of Time but it turns out...Jack NEEDS someone to say the actual words and mean them.

Damn, Jack needs flat out counseling/therapy so bad...

Also, did anyone notice how similar Oswald's description was to the Plasmavore describing killing the child princess in "Smith & Jones"? I get it's the stereotypcai reason but still...then again, she also says, "Burn with me!" which is later used in "42".

Esther is incredibly naive, everyone's family is completely messed up but Gwen and Rhys and Jack's butt is also nice in tight work pants

Now, a lot of people seemed to be angry at Esther for seeing her sister on the run but Ianto did the same thing and we all thought it was sweet...although he did also get a laptop and car out of the deal. However, the fact that she loved a family member(s) that much to call a government organization anonymously on their behalf only to have it reveal their location and end up horribly?

Well, we've seen that, too.

We all focus so much on the fact that Jack killed Alice's son that we forget how much Alice loved her father. Despite telling him how it was better not to see him and this and that, she called him repeatedly after he was presumably blown up in Cardiff. In fact, she even borrowed a phone to get someone to find him. Unfortunately, this love meant they were able to connect the dots and they were taken into custody but once again, they were okay until she insisted that Jack help them...

I'm not expecting for Alice to even be mentioned but it would be nice to hear what she's up to. At the very least, they could have had Jack watching her the way he was also watching Gwen.

However, Esther was incredibly, incredibly naive if she actually thought someone could work with her sister within the home environment or that the girls wouldn't be immediately removed.

Was the whole thing with Rex' dad really necessary? I'm not just saying this because it messed with my Rex fic but it just seemed...meaningless? Is Rex supposed to turn over a new leaf now because even his dad thinks he's a dick or...?
It's also very convenient that Esther and Rex both have families within the areas of their hideouts, no matter which coast.

I loved the scene where Jack and Gwen pretend to be a normal American couple and when they infiltrate PhiCorp mostly because Jack wears these really tight pants where his butt might as well be painted green. Gwen looks nice, too.

I'm guessing the baby who seemed to be a pretty good portion of that episode...more screentime than Rhys...but will never be seen again? By baby, I mean the one that was abandoned and then forced to be in Oswald Danes' arms.

Eww, car is disgusting.

I still argue Rex is what he should be and we've established he is in pain and on drugs so not actually reflective of who he might of been before the miracle. Plus he's CIA he's used to processing and working from a clear cut sort of mandate and here he is in the crazy of Torchwood and their 'huh, why not just tech in and do madness? It's not like we have to testify in court ever on anything and we've got retcon- heck we've already had Esther kitten here retconned before, not that she remembers. It's kinda the point right?"

Also oh Jack needs counselling true, but my therapeutic learnings and such make me want to add on that the best kind of therapy would be hugs and support from his living loved ones without the side-angle of sexing. Just I loved the condom thing and drunk dialing Gwen. His being all us against the world where we see Gwen can't be that for him because above Jack, Rhys, Torchwood and the world the thing on Gwen's mind is Anwen she asked that Rhys put her on the forefront and even in phonecalls continually trying to have anwen put on the phone etc... because at this moment that is Gwen's entire focus.

Oh and yes Gwen and Jack's disguises were excellent especially Jack's mmmm.... oh and their REX LEARN TORCHWOOD TIMING- SHOOT PERSON AFTER THE VILLAINOUS RANT ENDS NOT BEFORE! PLus with Immortality running rampant at least avoid taking out the talkability of the person about to make the reveal jeez now it will take us like three episodes to get what we could have had right there!
