I saw Drive last night and it is really good. The best part about it is how it showed instead of telling us everything. He let the story advance through music and actions and... *gasp* ...the actors...acting!
However, it did feel a bit like a bait and switch. We were thinking a nice psychological thriller with Ryan Gosling and then appeared to stumble into a Tarantino film instead. One character's head explodes from being hit by a shotgun at pointblank range while another character beats a guy's head in like it's a watermelon.
P.S. Margo Martindale just won an Emmy! Yay! I haven't really watched Justified but she's always wonderful in her roles over the past twenty years plus and this is her first acting award ever!
I first really noticed her in The Riches. I LOVED that show.
