Thankgiving is about those you value as Family

Now, this is just one petition at one company. The best way to change things is...Don't go.

Don't do the midnight sales.

Have a good night's sleep and hit the stores in the morning at a decent hour. If they don't get enough customers, it stops being profitable to have their stores open earlier.

So....are you petitioning that all places of business remain closed on Thanksgiving, like gas stations and hospitals? Or are the people of Target just more important than other people? :p :p :p

That's why I specified stores and not "Targets". The majority of businesses should be closed...obviously, gas stations, drugstores and hospitals would be excluded because of emergencies.

Not going to happen in this country. It's not just about the profit for the company, but for everyone else needing those last-minute things. Not only that, but not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving or even welcomes it as a holiday. I for one, wouldn't be upset if Thanksgiving all together didn't exist.

I understand that Thanksgiving doesn't have the best of beginnings with the whole white-washing of history but...

I have heard again and again from people who have been scheduled with either no time off or Thanksgiving is their only day off between Halloween and Christmas...

I know you've had experience with retail so I hope you can appreciate how freaking insane that really is. They have no time to recharge their batteries or really spend time with their loved ones. It's unfair so it would be nice if Thanksgiving could at least be one day without having to worry about work.

No, not everyone is blessed with a family that they truly love through blood but many are able to find a family that they love of friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc.

I don't want to sound like Dan Quayle or someone complaining about the lack of family/human values but I think that's what it boils down to. Our ancestors fought hard for weekends, Christmas, Thanksgiving, vacation pay and respect and we've lost almost all of it. We're like indentured servants.
