Okay, I know I have 367 days to prepare for this, but I'm starting to get a little weirded out about turning thirty. Now, my friend came up with a sort of bucket list and I know they do that on all the TV shows so...

I'm trying to think of things that I haven't done but could easily do before turning thirty next year. Things that can be done in state and not too expensive, like:

1. See the Atlantic Ocean. I've been in the Gulf plenty of times, even seen the Mississippi, but the actual Atlantic seems very different. Also, I've never really been east of Orlando.

2. Finish writing a book.

3. Attend a fandom activity, like something done by Hurricane Who.

Any other ideas?

The Atlantic Ocean is lovely! I grew up on the ocean and there's nothing prettier than standing on the beach and just staring out at an expanse of sea. It always makes me think about how fragile the ecosystem and life are.

I've never been out on a boat in the Atlantic though. I'm rather unnerved by deep water and I won't go in past my chest, if that.

ETA: I think part of this fear comes from when I was in Norfolk, VA when I was about 8 and I went out too far in the ocean. A giant wave swept over my head and knocked me over and my feet left the bottom. :(

I've never been a strong swimmer but after three years of a lot more practice, I am a lot better. I also discovered that I prefer wearing my sandals in the wave pool they have at this slightly local water park. It gives me better stability and I hope that would be similar in the ocean. Shoes can be good in the ocean anyway because of all the sharp stuff.
