Birthday Post

So, my birthday was a lot more low-key this year. For one thing, I had to work 8:45-5 PM. This is when I started wearing my reindeer antlers to work. I ate grilled cheese and Code Red at KMart for lunch.
Then, I got home, napped and read all the wonderful posts and comments and Tweets from everyone before going to see Sherlock Holmes and the Game of Shadows.
When we got home, I happened to look over and see a shooting star!
Then, we did crackers which we'd never done before. I didn't even know you could buy them in America. They were fun but the pops didn't always work. We split them up into two for my birthday, two for Christmas and two for New Year's.
Oh, speaking of Sherlock Holmes, I saw that OTHER Sherlock Holmes movie today. You know, the one with Gareth David-Lloyd?
It actually wasn't as bad I was expecting. I think the main problem was that the Sherlock actor was completely wrong for the part. Otherwise, I want the Warehouse 13 spin-off in Victorian times so HARD!
Also, here's the outfit I got for my birthday although I also got a skeleton Hello Kitty purse and a Lucky bracelet:

Or just December 16th?
Because all the cool kids are born on December 16th like Jane Austen, Beethoven and Arthur C. Clarke.

Date: 2012-01-07 07:59 am (UTC)I'm glad you saw that Sherlock Holmes film with GDL! He and Dominic Keating were the best things about it. I agree that the lead actor was all wrong. I'm waiting for the new series of Sherlock to hit PBS.
Speaking of Sherlock, did you hear that Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast as the villain in the next Star Trek movie??? *major fangirl squee*

Date: 2012-01-09 02:58 am (UTC)The US gets Sherlock in May! Woohoo! It's hard hearing everyone say how wonderful it is but four months isn't too bad.
I did hear! I'm totally excited although I hope it isn't like Eric Bana where you could barely recognise him. Plus, Noel Clarke is in it, too!
Sherlock and Mickey!

Date: 2012-01-21 03:23 am (UTC)Actually, my love for Steven Moffat also goes back to Disney...
In 2003, they released Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. Of course, my mom and I liked Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom but the person who really stole our hearts was Norrington aka Jack Davenport.
I wanted to see more of him but this was very hard in the pre-Youtube days as you can recall, too. It turned out that WEDU was showing Coupling on Saturday nights. I decided to give this a shot. The first episode was fairly light on Jack and I didn't care for it much, but NBC came out with its own version which was so horrible that I decided to try the original again. This time, the episode was centered around Jack's character and I LOVED it. I was hooked and was impressed that every episode was written by the same guy! Plus, it was based off his real relationship with his wife and she was the executive producer and so was his mother-in-law!
Then, I saw Curse of the Fatal Death and talked with him online and saw how cool he was and realized how much of a geek he was. When I heard Doctor Who was coming back, I knew how HUGE a fan he was and hoped he would be involved. Then, when that happened I hoped he would be show-runner someday...
If you love Sherlock and Doctor Who, you MUST see Jekyll. Like Sherlock, it's a sort of modern retelling of the old classic. I also recommend Coupling. My mom usually hates sitcoms but even she has seen every episode twice.
I usually don't like downloading stuff if I can help it. May does seem like a long way away but then I remind myself about having to wait until June or July for SciFi to show the Christmas episode of Dr Who or even worse....waiting four years between the fourth and fifth Harry Potter novels. Actually, when the third Abarat book came out in fall 2011, it was SEVEN years after the second one.
But GREAT news...Steven said today that we could have series 3 by the end of the year!

Good to hear about Sherlock! Sounds like Benedict is going to be busy this year!

Am happy you had a good birthday :) Love, love, love your t-shirt.
I have the Sherlock film with GDL but it's from the UK and I don't have a region free dvd player at the moment so I can't watch it *sulks*

Thank you, I got the shirt at Hot Topic and then I bought a TeeFury one so now I actually have TWO Doctor Who shirts. I never thought I'd see the day.

Date: 2012-01-09 10:33 am (UTC)My parent dvd player might be region free but I'm not game enough to play with it, nor my parents computer. It's not worth the crap that will follow if thy're screwed up.
I watch DVDs on my XBOX 360 and it has to be hacked to make it region free and I'm more than a little hesitant to have someone hack my beloved 360, source of all my Halo games.
LOL two Doctor Who t-shirts are very good to have :)
