The Bourne Legacy

We arrived at the movie theatre and this car was parked next to us with silver, blue, red and a LARGE spoiler on the back.
My mom: Look, it's Captain America's car!
I will probably have more complete, introspective thoughts at a later time, but for now...
The Bourne Legacy
I enjoyed it but I'm not like...Hiddleston uncontrollable excitement about it.
There are three reasons why:
1. Flowers for Algernon was never one of my favorite stories. I always found it incredibly sad and depressing and creepy. Now, you've put into an action movie context and gave it a better ending but still...
2. Since there were three movies of build-up, obviously I was given more incentive to be attached to Jason and Nicky. I do love Rachel Weisz and Jeremy Renner and I have for ten years and two years respectively but it's hard building up characters while having everything else going on.
3. There was a LOT of stuff in the ads that weren't in the movie:
a) Well, I'm not just a science project.
b) I'm going to finish what he started.
c) We both gave them everything... This was supposed to be followed by smoochies! Yes, I may have been watching a little too much Buffy but come on, one little measly kiss? NOTHING!
Also, You should have left me alone, is said to a WOLF!
So, I did really enjoy pretending it was Clint Barton undercover. It worked like 90% of the time. I thought it was just me but...
Aaron Cross: I'm going to take the nest.
My mom: Are you sure you're in the right movie?
At the beginning, there were wolves. They kept following him and he kept freaking out. I guess it was Alaska so we were just supposed to be like, "Well, it's Alaska and Liam Neeson taught us that they like hunting and eating humans."
I couldn't help thinking he was worried that Loki had sent them...
My Mom: I hated seeing him all beaten up and hurt especially the scene with the hospital gown and all...you survived the New York City with barely a scratch. He even had that fight with Black Widow and didn't get a scratch!
Me: Cognitive rehabilitation.
(Credits end and company logos come on.)
Me: Awww...
My Mom: What? You were expecting them to eat Shawarma?
Well, yes...
Me: They could have at least been eating fish or something...
Also, they KILLED Albert Finney's character...wahhh.
So, Bourne Ultimatum>Bourne Legacy>Bourne Supremacy>Bourne Identity

Date: 2012-08-11 04:48 am (UTC)( I always liked Equilibrium & Christian Bale better, ... it's a similar concept. )
...at the very least it sounds like it might make for good plot bunnies & crossover fic.

Date: 2012-08-11 06:12 am (UTC)That may because I find Matt Damon to be the Hollywood A-list equivalent of a black hole.
YMMV.

Date: 2012-09-14 05:34 am (UTC)No, probably not unless you strictly want to watch it from the viewpoint of...Clint's undercover...go...
I've never gotten through Equilibrium. I love Christian Bale and the cast but me and Dystopian? We don't really mesh...

Re: shwarma. My dad and I went to see Dark Knight Rises tonight. I had already seen him but went with him anyway. Anyway, the credits roll and I get ready to go and he looks at me and goes "No shwarma scene?"
Joss, you have RUINED other movies for us!

Date: 2012-08-14 02:32 am (UTC)It is harder to get attached to these new characters, it always is when you switch main characters mid-way through a franchise.
The neglecting of those lines is disappointing, they seem like they had promise.
...I could totally see Clint Barton being a spy and Loki sending wolves after him. I'm sure Fenrir needs to hunt things.

I now want to write a fic where Clint teams up with wolves for some mission for Loki. *facepalm*

Date: 2012-10-03 01:24 pm (UTC)I totally forgot about it, and I've sorta stopped writing Avengers fic. But I'll be watching the DVD in the near future, so I'll put it in the ideas folder.
