Paranorman

Okay, paranorman was not as pretty or involved as Coraline. However, it is a beautiful story about how anger and fear turns into bigotry, bullying and violence which turns into a self-sustaining cycle BUT we can stop this cycle with trying to understand and feel empathy for those who seem so different from us because they're really not.

I do wish we got to meet the football star's boyfriend...

I loved the message too. I just wish the entire movie had been as engaging as the third act where things really got good.

But also... though the reveal of that one certain character having a boyfriend pleasantly surprised me, I couldn't really enjoy the moment much because several children in my theater simultaneously went "Ewww!" It was extremely upsetting. The message went right over their heads. :(

I'm so surprised about the positive reviews I'm hearing about it, only because the trailers implied that it would be terrible.

And the trailers never caught me that much.

I'm rather glad they gave the football star a boyfriend. Small bits of progress makes me smile.
