Today is the 50th anniversary of James Bond.

I have fond childhood memories of James Bond. One of my brothers was a HUGE James Bond fan and since this was before the internet, he often enlisted me in his fandom activities. This included watching every film that came on the tv, looking into my eyeball to see if it was possible to see someone's reflection in it and playing the soundtrack game. The soundtrack game consisted of his fast-forwarding or rewinding through a cassette of all James Bond lyrical songs, stopping on a random point and having me name the movie and/or title with bonus points for artist.

He also tried to instill in me that Sean Connery was the best James Bond although I preferred him in Darby O'Gill and the Little People. He SINGS!

Then, I'd listen to him complain how Pierce Brosnan should have gotten Bond instead of Timothy Dalton...this was years before Goldeneye...and we'd watch Remington Steele or The Saint because my favorite Bond was Roger Moore.

At that time, my mom and I never went to the films in the theatre; partly to annoy him and partly because we'd see them enough times afterward on the tv. After he moved out, I found myself...starting to miss them. Mom and I went to Die Another Day and we've been to every Bond film ever since.

This brings up my final admission...Roger Moore is no longer my favorite Bond. I was wary of Daniel Craig as everyone else was. Who's this guy? And he's blond? What is this?
Then, I saw Casino Royale and it was all over...for both of us. My mom fell for him, too. Now I think we get more excited about the new films than my brother, hehe.

I can't wait for Skyfall!

Making my impatience worse is that we don't get it until November 8th AND it appears to have the Iron Man 3 trailer with it...

Darby O'Gill was one of my favourite movies when I was a kid, even if it scared the living hell out of me. That horrible Banshee! Stuff of nightmares!

I have to admit, Daniel Craig is my favourite Bond. I love Casino Royale so much, I can't help it.

My dad got me into Bond, and my first film was The Spy Who Loved Me. Roger Moore was my favorite for years, while Dad always preferred Sean Connery. Sadly, my dad didn't live to see Dalton and Brosnan, and I think he would've liked them both. It's too bad Brosnan's movies weren't that great, and the best movie, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, had George Lazanby, who was capable at best. Like you, I was sold on Daniel Craig on the first viewing of Casino Royale, and he's my all-time favorite now. I'm already dreading the day he'll hang up the tux. There's been talk about Michael Fassbender taking the role next, and as great as that would be, I've love to see Gareth David-Lloyd be given a shot at it.

Oh, I hope I'll see the IM3 trailer with it! I'm already excited about it, since it's supposed to be based on the Extremis storyline, and it's apparently going to take a darker tone. Going to be very interesting...

Skyfall looks like it'll be damn exciting. And I'm loving the bits of Ben Whishaw.
Daniel Craig makes a damn good Bond, or at least Casino Royale was fantastic. I can't blame anyone for the terribleness of Quantum of Solace considering that was shot during the writers strike so they pretty much had no script. But hopefully this will be in great form.

I really wanted Pierce Brosnan to be Bond too.

I'm very excited for Skyfall!

When people ask me who my favourite Bond is, I tend to divide the actors up arbitrarily as "old school Bond" (Connery, Moore, Dalton, Lazenby) and "modern Bond" (Brosnan, and Craig) just so I don't have to make the ultimate choice between Connery and Craig. :D

I actually never really got into James Bond until Daniel Craig. Too much of my inner feminist rebelled against them growing up, but I have a taste for them now.

Skyfall looks amazing!
