Well, it could happen...in theory...according to this week's Entertainment Weekly.

Edward Kitsis-
"Originally the sheriff was Sherlock Holmes. There was a rights issue, so we could not get it. But now we're so in love with BBC's Sherlock. We'll never have Sherlock unless Benedict Cumberbatch wants to come on."

"Unless Johnny Depp wants to appear on Once Upon a Time. Then we will write Jack Sparrow one day!"

Okay, that would be kind of cool but the idea of Benedict Cumberbatch with Sebastian Stan, Robert Carlyle and everyone else?

*dead*

Is Once Upon A Time made by the same people who do the Fables comic book?

No, I know a lot of people claim that Once Upon a Time is ripped off Fables but they're very different stories and if we're just going off the idea of all the fairy tales living together in not so happy circumstances well...

We could say Fables ripped off Tenth Kingdom...

and that Tenth Kingdom ripped off Into the Woods...

and I know there's other.

Sherlock Holmes is in the public domain. How on Earth could there be rights issues?

This question, exactly. Unless they wanted to quote verbatim some passages from "The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes" (which I believe IS still protected by copyright) -- the actual character himself of Sherlock Holmes is public domain. So there cannot be a rights issue. I AM SO CONFUSED.

(And really confused, because I would SO watch "Once Upon a Time" if Sherlock Holmes became the sheriff in it.) (:is crushed:) (... I mean, I am ADORING "Elementary," so I suppose I shouldn't be getting greedy -- but MAN, that woulda been great. :))

I just wish he didn't seem too busy with all his movies and things...

I love the show, and as much as I love Caaptain Jack, I don't really want to see either on Once Upon A Time. Neither are fairy tale enough. I was rather on Benedict Cumberbatch until I saw Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. I like Sherlock the show well enough, but not crazy about a crossover. Now a trip to Middle Earth, or meeting Tiana would be sweet.

I had to Google Sebastian Stan because I wasn't familiar with the name. GUH! I have previously referred to him as 'the slightly chubby Adam Lambert.' Thank you for enlightening me!

I would love it if both of these things actually happened. I doubt it ever will but the idea makes me happy.
