Jon Stewart should always call it. I loved it last time and this time was just as good.

My mom was relieved because "because at my age, I just can't take that level of disappointment."

She was in the minority for her age. Over 55% of those 65 and older voted for Romney.
80% of White Evangelicals voted for Romney which makes me sad...like this is why people tend to hate White Evangelicals.

Romney may still win the popular vote and then, we will all be humbled.

Democrats will be forced to admit that Bush was the rightful winner in 2000.
Republicans will be forced to feel exactly how we felt back then.

Both of us will have to admit that the electoral college works and, in cases like mine, that God really does put the rightful ruler in their place until God chooses to take them out.

Edit: LOL It turns out my mom and I are both in a different kind of minority...only 40% of Whites voted for Obama. Didn't the media claim last time we were "post-racial" ?

Thank your mother for me for standing up for what is RIGHT (despite that it is on the "left").

Not since, if the Florida recount had been allowed to proceed instead of shut down by Bush's brother and the Supreme Court appointed by his father, Gore would have one. (Someone used the Freedom of Information Act to request the ballots and do the recount again.)

That said, I suspect there will be lots of constitutional amendment proposals to eliminate the electoral college.

ETA: Actually, I just checked this morning, and now the AP via my local newspaper site is reporting that Obama won the popular vote by ~3,000,000 votes. Still, reason for FL in 2000 above is no less valid.

I suspect this will be the case even though Obama won the popular vote.

JUst came here to say this. The Republicans, who are always so big on states' rights, were perfectly happy to have the Supreme Court decide what votes got counted in Florida. Florida should have had a recount and if Bush had won, then it would have been legitimate.

I choose to watch Comedy central last night because I rightly guessed the regular networks would peeve me off. I so agree. John was wonderuful, and Stephen tried hard not to dance.

However, Deomocrats can rejoince in the fact that President Obama got 50% of the popular vote. Mister Romney got 48%, so the Electoral vote verified the popular vote.
