I watch CBS Sunday Morning every week. Some weeks, I wonder why I bother but some weeks are filled with good stuff, like today.

They had a segment about the drug cartels paying off border patrol officers to let in drugs and illegal immigrants to the country which we've known about for years...but now the drug cartels are starting to team up with people like...al-Qaeda.It points to one inevitable conclusion...at some point, we will going to war against the drug cartels. Now, if that's going to happen anyway...why not try something totally unexpected like legalization and taxation?

They had a very awesome segment about Nick Vujicic. I especially liked how he described his suicide attempt at age ten. It was like a "It gets better" video except the bullying was about his disability. Honestly, we've all been bullied at some point and most of us get past it. The important thing is that you're not alone and you HAVE to talk to someone about it. It festers inside when you don't tell anyone what you're feeling.

He's so cute and funny and upbeat that you totally forget that he wasn't born with limbs.

Scarlett Johansson interview!!!

I liked her before Marvel hired her so I love this. When the announcer said how she had two and a half more months on Broadway, I had to restrain myself from yelling, "And then WINTER SOLDIER!"
Then, when he said how her next project was reprising Black Widow in the Captain America sequel, I did correct him, "Captain America: Winter Soldier!"

However, as much as I love her, as much as she's a talented actress...I can't abide her southern accent. It's just...wrong. It's like when Alex Kingston or Burn Gorman do an American accent. Just...no.

Also, it's probably sad but when they were showing random file footage, I knew it was from The Avengers premiere; not from her dress or the posters behind her, but from the Harley Davidson...

I watch CBS Sunday Morning every week, too, though I tend to wake up/tune in after the more hard-hitting news at the beginning and watch the more feature-ish/human interest piece segments. I agree that sometimes it can be a bit too New York-y (like almost that entire food-themed episode), but this week was such a good episode.

I loved the Nick Vujicic segment---he is one hell of an inpsiring human being. And yeah, I loved how he talked about bullying and about nearly giving up---it was a nice reminder that people get bullied for things other than sexuality, something we've forgotten of late. I experienced a lot of bullying from elementary school well up into high school, and it's definitely worth getting past. Always tell parents and/or talk to a teacher about it. It does feel better to get it out, even if the bullies don't go away. I just sometimes wish schools actually punished the bullies instead of letting them off with a verbal warning while the offenders let loose the crocodile tears.

Scarlett's interview was great! And I might have squeed when they mentioned Winter Soldier (God, I hope she has some sort of past history with Bucky). I didn't have issues with her Southern accent, but maybe that's because I'm a silly Midwesterner? I don't know.

I recognized the Avengers red carpet footage, but mainly from her hair and the backdrop---I missed the Harley.

Also, thanks for posting this Hiddles photo. Now I want Sunday Morning to spotlight him. And I want Bill Geist to do the interview. I am such a nerd.

I'm still waiting for CBS Sunday Morning to do Tom Hiddleston...

Especially since they had Benedict Cumberbatch on, really...

But Bill never seems to do the celebrity interviews, I think because he doesn't travel across the country and with his health, that seems even more understandable now.

His segment last Sunday was so sad.

I completely forgot about this comment. And yeah, I'm still waiting for their Hiddles spotlight, too. I think I missed the Cumberbatch interview, though.

I must have either not known or forgotten about Bill's health issues when I left this comment (or he hadn't declined yet?). But yeah, he usually doesn't get celebrity interviews; he usually goes to wacky meet-ups (like that natural ginger convention thing) or holds Super Bowl parties with his grandkids (which is beyond adorable). But yeah, his segment last week was pretty heartbreaking.

They'd probably send Mo Rocca and he'd cut right to the chase: "So, Tom, why do women love you? And how can the rest of us get some of that?"
