This is relevant to my fellow Bones people. I usually spend every episode wondering why I still watch but tonight's episode had an Angela subplot and I love her.

These are by John Singer Sargent in 1882 and 1884.

Angela was right. He's amazing and I can definitely imagine spending twenty minutes on one painting. I now want to see one in person.

Where to you live?I lived in Micigan and took art there and the University I attended was in the same neighborhood as the Detroit Institute of Arts and we were allowed to study there. I got locked in for an hour after hourse once. Anyway there are a couple of Sargents there and they are amazing to look at because of the deceptive simplicity of style, the lack of fussieness about the paintings in spite of the detail. This is one of the Paintings at the DIA:http://www.dia.org/object-info/54a46604-e599-4921-bc42-9f554ea943dd.aspx

Oh, that's gorgeous!

I realize now I forgot to tell you the happy ending. Shortly after this, Tampa was able to host part of the Phillips Collection, including John Singer Sargent!

His work was just as beautiful in person.
