Obviously, I will probably enjoy any tv series where Freema Agyeman shows up on a semi-regular basis.

However, I am also a huge Sex and the City fan. By huge, I mean I intend to own the whole series, but not the second film which I try to forget, and I own and have read both books of The Carrie Diaries.

At the time, there were already rumors of a tv series for them and I could see how it could happen. It had neatly ignored certain canon from the original series but everyone was interesting, likable and funny like the original series with one key difference...

Carrie spends most of the books as a virgin which is nice. It's a nice contrast to the original series. As expected, the series is a lot more drawn out than the books...I'll be so happy when Walt finally comes out. In the book, he has gay romances and everything...and he would have been cute with Bennet. *fingers crossed*

Freema's character isn't even in the books...I think she was a replacement for Samantha who she meets in book two. The tv series allows more insight into the characters and "Aha!" moments for who they become. When they talk about Carrie's mom and how she tried so hard to be the perfect suburban housewife especially with Thanksgiving and everything...it made me wonder whether that was what endeared her so much to Charlotte. Charlotte only appears at the very, very end of the second book.

Also, it takes place in the 1980s! Thus, awesome music...between this and Rock of Ages, I really do have to face the fact that 80s music seems to be my happy place almost as much as 90s music where I'm transported back to happy childhood memories of long car rides...just no Whitney Houston, if I hear that dance song one more time, I will scream. Give me Wham and Genesis instead.

Sex and the City is silly, girly fun. Kind of different to see an origin story in book form for that.

Genesis is very good. Whitney Houston just sounds too drawn out for me, most of the time.

I can do a five minute rant on everything I hate with "I Want to Dance with Somebody".
