It's an interesting idea. I think I wouldn't oppose such but the hair might be a deal breaker for me. They could be any race or sex but the hair has to be red somehow or in some way. It's the MJ trademark.

So, I had to work so I wasn't able to watch the "Venom Bomb" episode of Ultimate Spider-Man until tonight but at different points, Phil Coulson and Nick Fury become VENOM!!!!!

Oooh yeah! Of course as much fun as I might find the idea of a genderbend that makes a female character male, rather than making a male one female, I can't help thinking how many pissed off people there would be. I mean it wouldn't just be male and female fans of MJ pissed about her gender being changed, but people who have no problem with male characters being turned female being all outraged by a female character being made male. It would be simpler to either have Peter "explore his sexuality" with a male canon character like Harry, or to create a new male character for the situation.
