New Fall Television

Entertainment Weekly finally had their Fall TV Preview issue so I can plan my viewing.
However, for the first time since I started reading them in 1993, they didn't have a proper grid to plan what to watch live and what to DVR and whatever. They had their recommendations but their recommendations including choosing Utopia over The Flash which I would never do.
TV Guide to the rescue...

Unless I'm working, I'm watching these LIVE:
Once Upon a Time ABC 8-9 PM EST Sunday
The Good Wife CBS 9-10 PM EST Sunday
Gotham FOX 8-9 PM EST Monday
Star Wars Rebels 9-9:30 PM EST Monday
Castle ABC 10-11 PM EST Monday
The Flash CW 8-9 PM EST Tueday
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ABC 9-10 PM EST Tuesday
Forever ABC 10-11 PM EST Tuesday
Arrow CW 8-9 PM EST Wednesday
South Park Comedy Central 10-10:30 PM EST Wednesday
Key & Peele Comedy Central 10:30-11 PM EST Wednesday
Gracepoint FOX 9-10 PM EST Thursday
Elementary CBS 10-11 PM EST Thursday
Constantine NBC 10-11 PM EST Friday
Death Comes to Pemberley PBS 9-11 PM EST October 26
Plus, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report and Saturday Night Live. However, everyone changing around and being at the same time actually freed me a lot. I feel like I can watch whatever I want to or even not watch the late night programming entirely.
WHERE IS MY PARKS AND RECREATION?????? And I have to wait until 2015 for more Finding Carter??
DVR!!!!!:
The Simpsons Fox 8-8:30 PM EST Sunday
Tim & Eric's Bedtime Stories Cartoon Network 12:15-12:30 AM EST Thursday
Shows that I feel obligated to watch at least once because of reasons but don't have much hope for:
Scorpion CBS 9-10 PM EST Monday
It had Robert Patrick and Eddie Kaye Thomas and looks like CBS wants in on the SHIELD action, so with the right writers, it could be good...could.
Jane the Virgin CW 9-10 PM Monday
The people who bought you Ugly Betty bring you another series about a plucky Latino based off a telenovela. This is a maybe because Ugly Betty had good and bad parts to it and I'm not sure which will win out here or it'll be the same way.
Red Band Society Fox 9-10 PM EST Wednesday
It could be fun...or I could end up rooting for all of them to die.
black-ish 9:30-10 PM EST Wednesday
I'll try anything with Anthony Anderson once.
American Horror Story: Freak Show FX 10-11 PM EST Wednesday
I always lose my desire to watch after the first episode and this take place in Florida so I might give up halfway through the first episode.
How to Get Away with Murder ABC 10-11 PM EST Thursday
I used to like Shonda Rimes, or at least watch all her stuff, but now I gave up on Scandal and I only watch Grey's Anatomy on sporadic occasions.
Shows that I watch if my other shows at that time are reruns and I remember about it:
Madam Secretary CBS 8-9 PM EST Sunday
Tea Leoni being basically Hillary Clinton! I need this, but why does it have to be at the same time as everything else?
Selfie ABC 8-8:30 PM EST Tuesday
John Cho and Karen Gillan!
Happyland MTV 11-12 AM EST Tuesday
I'm a sucker for amusement parks, but it's MTV so it could be good or bad.
Bad Judge NBC 9-9:30 PM EST Thursday
Kate Walsh in a comedy!
Shows that I will watch when I get a free HBO/Showtime weekend:
Boardwalk Empire HBO 9-10 PM EST Sunday
The Newsroom HBO 9-10 PM EST Sunday
Shows that I've dumped:
Sleepy Hollow Fox 9-10 PM EST Monday
A Young Doctor's Notebook Ovation 10 PM-? Wednesday
Scandal ABC 9-10 PM EST Thursday
I've been so spoiled by Entertainment Weekly's Marvel coverage that I was actually disappointed with how small the coverage was in this issue...I really wanted to see that new cast photo on glossy paper on a large scale. But maybe Peggy Carter will be the front of the mid-season preview?

Date: 2014-09-17 01:46 pm (UTC)You don't watch Scandal any more? SHOCKING..... :o
I on the other hand barely tolerate Grey's Anatomy. Now that Christina is gone, I will probably slowly stop watching it. :(
I am looking forward to How to Get Away With Murder. I really like the lead actress, and it looks like it could be fun. :)
Entertainment Weekly and TVGuide have gotten so worthless. UGH... I stopped getting TVG when they changed their format years ago. Then a year ago I started to get it because I got a free subscription. Now they have changed again. Instead of two page graphs of evening programming, they dropped a bunch of channels and only have one page worth now. UGH........

Date: 2014-09-25 11:54 pm (UTC)The first episode of Forever on Monday was okay but on Tuesday, I started really connecting with them. Part of what I liked most about New Amsterdam was the parent/child relationship when you live forever and your child doesn't. I feel like Torchwood glossed over it and then burned the bridges behind it so we would never get that even if the BBC didn't insist it was dead. Thus, I really like that they spend a lot of time with that on Forever.
The episode of Scandal where we followed the serial killer with the killing and everything...that's where I dropped it. I wanted more of a female perspective version of The West Wing and felt like I had suddenly been given Dexter instead,,,
I have no plans on watching Grey's Anatomy or How to get away with Murder tonight. I thought about it but I'm still five episodes behind with Arrow so I'm catching up with that instead.
I stopped reading TV Guide years ago, possibly college but I still feel my Entertainment Weekly subscription is worth it. I check the guide to Premieres every day to see if something's going to be new that night. Every issue always has something I didn't know before and What to Watch can be a great reminder of special events I forgot to DVR like the documentary that Mike Myers directed.

Date: 2014-09-18 02:21 pm (UTC)Saw Selfie, Forever, and A to Z. Hated the comedies, thought Forever was decent enough to watch again.
A particular thing that happens in the Jane the Virgin pilot disgusts me so much that I am against the show before it's even aired. I'll watch the pilot and see how it plays, but I have very low expectations.

Date: 2014-09-19 05:50 am (UTC)In the original series, I was told that she doesn't find out she's pregnant until the season finale.
I kind of think series based off telenovelas should explain that right from the start. One of the critics I respect said that the worst new show was Mysteries of Laura so I tried that one and didn't find it that bad since I already knew it was based off a telenovela. My main problem was that the bad guy turned out to be Enrico Colontoni and my mom and I are both like, NO, not Veronica's dad!!

Date: 2014-09-23 02:15 am (UTC)I have Constantine on the list...I double-checked because your remark made me think I didn't. However, it's a NBC show, not Fox or CW.
Grimm made the list last year of "Show I dumped". I thought about trying again for Alexis Denisof but...didn't.
I still don't have Netflix or regular access to Netflix.
Zombies freak me out.
But the mid-season shows also include Marvel's Agent Carter! Woohoo!

Date: 2014-10-17 05:19 am (UTC)It does seem to have a lot of aspects that seem interesting but I can't seem to suspend my disbelief for that show...I don't know why, maybe I recognize too many people especially now with the Fringe people.

Date: 2014-12-15 01:04 am (UTC)I get what you're saying, though, suspending disbelief is the #1 important thing to do when watching genre shows. And if recognizing people is a bad thing...
