Despite Lucia being one of Jack’s former lovers and one that he shared a child with, it didn’t feel strange being around her.

However, there was something Ianto wanted to know.

“Steven, when I died, I had no regrets, did you feel sad about not growing up?” he asked and after a moment, the boy shook his head.

"I wish mum was here, but she will be one day, we'll all be together," said Steven with a grin.

It was sad, but if he was sacrificed like that, his death must have been the only way to stop the 456. He was why Mica, David and Iefan were safe.

“Thank you,” Ianto told him and Steven just smiled like he was odd.

“Daddy, I have to go to my other daddy now,” said Iefan, pulling on his trouser leg.

“Oh, isn’t that just going to get confusing for you? Calling us both ‘daddy’?” he asked his son and picked him up.

“Sometime, he calls himself ‘papa’,” Iefan answered and that didn’t seem any better.

“He doesn’t seem like the ‘papa’ type. Oh well, that’s something the two of you will have to sort out because…because I won’t be there,” Ianto uttered and felt the tears coming down, “But I’ll be looking over you, I’ll watch you. I love you and I will always love you.”

He kissed the little cheek and Iefan surprised him by kissing him back. Then, after a hug, he set his son down and the little boy waved to him as he disappeared. Lucia’s hand clasped him on the shoulder while he wanted to slump to the floor.

“Is he coming back?” asked Steven, still clutching his ball.

“Hopefully not for a very, very long time,” the Welshman replied and the boy appeared disappointed.

“Perhaps Ianto would like to join our game,” she suggested and he looked towards the man for a response.

“I would love that,” he agreed and Steven threw the ball at him.

Days passed with Steven and Lucia or Tosh and Owen or with Lisa. It was a relief to know that Jack had Iefan to comfort him and it made him smile to think that they had a son together. The knowledge made it easier that he couldn't see Jack and didn't know when that would happen. Iefan had said “No, don’t cry. My daddy does all the time because my other daddy died and he misses him.” but he hoped that it worked the same way for Jack, their separation becoming less of a problem as time passed and that he wasn't blaming himself. Ianto felt more at peace with his new situation...well, being dead. However, when he saw that dark passage appear in front of him one afternoon, he didn’t hesitate to enter. Something inside him knew what to expect on the other side. At the end of the darkness, he appeared in a room that couldn’t have been on Earth, but the important part was the bed which held Jack. His blue eyes bounced between the bearded face and the swollen belly.

“Jack,” he whispered and his lover’s blue eyes opened.

“Ianto” Jack said and reached for him. Ianto took the hand and climbed into the bed next to him.

“I’ve missed you so much,” he uttered and tears were starting to come down his cheeks.

“I know,” Ianto told him and laid his other hand on the baby bump under the covers, “a little birdie told me.”

His hand caressed Jack's new rounded form. Even though he had met their son, it was still odd to see him this way.

“We’re having a baby,” his lover spoke and he felt the giant grin come over his face, “But you’ve talked with the baby? It can’t even say anything yet.”

“But he will,” Ianto said and saw Jack’s face light up before asking, “It’s a boy?”

He would have thought Jack would have found that out as soon as he could.

“It is and you name him, Iefan,” he confirmed and loved seeing him smile like that.

“A good Welsh name like his daddy,” the other agreed and squeezed his hand. However, this was a dream and he couldn’t be sure how long it could last. He could almost remember Rhi complaining about not being able to sleep very long when she was pregnant.

“Jack, I also met Steven,” Ianto announced and Jack’s face clouded immediately, “I know you had to do it for the 456 to save David and Mica and I’m sorry, but he’s not. He’s happy, Jack, he is. You have to stop blaming yourself for our deaths.”

His lover closed his eyes and Ianto kissed his bristled lips before continuing, “It wasn’t your fault. It’s just what had to happen…”

“But all the things he missed out on, all the things you’ll miss out on,” Jack complained and put his other hand on top of Ianto’s on his bump. His thumb met the coldness of the brass buttons running up and down the over-sized blue shirt. He always did like his blue wardrobe.

“And you have to stop thinking that way, remember the good times with Steven, with me, look at everything we accomplished,” he said and he was tearing up as well, “We made this amazing person together and you’ll be able to tell him all about me and his cousin Steven and Tosh and Owen. I want you to be happy. I don’t want our son having to see his dad cry for me.”

“It’s hard though…”

“I know it’s hard but I love you and I know you can do it,” he spoke and kissed him again. The “L” word was said without even a flinch from Jack although the facial hair tickled. After they were kissing for a good minute or so, Jack pulled back.

“After you died, they made up all these rules and regulations in order to get your body and…” he sighed as though he was confessing something, “I married you.”

Married? He couldn’t believe his ears when he remembered how long it took to wear him down about the benefits of his house vs. Jack’s mancave under the office. However, his lover was wearing his serious face.

“You really did,” Ianto spoke and then realized, “And that’s why you…”

He trailed off, but that’s why Iefan was named Jones.

“Well, at least he won’t be a bastard,” he quipped which made Jack smile, “Does my sister know?”

It was answered with a shake of the head and a whisper, "Not about the baby. She knows about the marriage."

“Rhi would utterly flip,” the Welshman commented and loved the thought along with a mild curiosity about how she took that news. The last word on the matter from him was that he didn't know what he had with Jack and then, she would have found out that they were actually married...or supposed to be. He guessed he should have been upset that it took his death for it to happen, but it was more than he had ever expected for himself. Torchwood dies young. Everyone knew that and Jack needed poking and prodding through almost every step of their relationship.

“That might take some explaining,” Jack spoke and Ianto knew he meant about telling his sister about the baby, “He’s waking up so we don’t have long.”

Ianto pulled the covers down and his lover’s shirt up so he could see the bump better. It was strange and amazing and beautiful, looking just like it would on a female except for Jack's pecs remaining the same size.

“And this is only thirty-four weeks; I have a full six more weeks of getting even more huge,” his lover pointed out and he laughed as he felt the flesh of the belly. Then, there was a kick from their baby within and he thought of the little boy he'd become someday. He also couldn’t resist playing with the belly button that had become an outie. Ianto kissed the bump and said, “I love you.”

Turning his attention back to Jack, he continued, “and of course, I love you, too.”
However, the man had a thoughtful look on his face and the Welshman had to ask, “What is it?”

“I just remembered a dream I had a few days ago with you and Steven and everyone and you were all so happy. Steven was playing with a ball and Lucia was with him. The baby was asleep for a really long time that day,” Jack explained and it came to him how he could refer to Jack as his husband now.

“That was real, all of it, we are happy,” Ianto said, “and I’ll be even more happy knowing that my husband is not blaming himself anymore or wallowing in self-pity and just being the best daddy he can be.”

Jack nodded and asked, “Will you stay with me until I wake up?”

In response, he lay down again and held Jack close to him, kissing the cheek that was closest.

“Are you ever shaving again?” Ianto inquired of the stubble that tickled his lips and his husband smiled.

“Maybe, it’s just easier to skip it when it’s been growing so fast anyway because of the pregnancy…Pity we don’t have time for anything else,” the older man spoke and Ianto had to laugh at his thinking of that even when he was eight months along. They lay like that until Ianto realized he was by himself on the grassy ground. Still, he hoped that Jack would do as he told him.
