So, we saw Horrible Bosses 2 earlier today. My mom loved it, thought it was better than the first one. I do agree about it being better but I don't feel either up to my comedy standards...more like a fun filler than something I'd seek out on television and insist on watching the whole thing.

Okay...

SPOILERS

There were a few scenes dealing with racism. I was curious how it would go over but it was the same reaction as always. It is nice that racism in comedy has changed from the uncomfortable situation of putting up with a racist relative or character in order to achieve your means to most situations now are about the horror of being accidentally racist yourself.

Jamie Foxx also got an AWESOME ending; the best ending of all the characters. I was a little sad that he didn't get any scenes with Christoph Waltz. I still love Django Unchained a lot.

Christoph Waltz was basically type-casted again as a snide villain. However, I did love the casting of Chris Pine as his spoiled son. There is some resemblance, including the blue eyes.

Chris Pine is so good at playing a complete asshole. There are times when I can't even stand his Captain Kirk and this character was FULL-ON asshole. It was hard to watch sometimes.

I'm very tempted to finally buy Bottle Shock as I think about doing every so often. Honestly, that's probably my favorite Chris Pine film; cute story with such a great cast.

Kevin Spacey only has two scenes but he rules them. I love that man.

Keegan-Michael Key has one scene and my mom said how she "kept waiting for the other one to show up" because he and Jordan Peele are a package deal now, right?
I was either watching Playing House or Fargo which convinced her of this.

There were enough slow parts and/or lack of continuity that she and I were actually pointing out mistakes DURING the film.

There was one thing I really liked. Now, this is definitely not a female empowerment film. They exist to move the plot along and that is all. Plus, I hate the stereotype that women have nothing better to do than track what their man is doing at all times, complete with an App. that tracks their phone. In my experience, it's a lot more common to have the men demanding to know where she is at all times.

However, by the end, two women that would normally be enemies, the wife and the woman who wants to sleep with him, bond and become great friends. The woman does announce that she wants to sleep with the wife but I'll still take it over the normal resolution.

I hope there isn't a third one.

They've finally started admitting that Into the Woods is a MUSICAL and I recognized things from the second act! I'm beginning to have hope for this. Maybe it will confirm my old theory that "Into the Woods" is impossible to mess up.
