Isn't British Candy awesome? ??

I recently got to try Crunchie, Milky Bar and Fox's Party Rings and I had a lovely post that the LJ application refused to post because I'm currently under throttling! !!!!

British candy and biscuits are indeed awesome! I have After Eights and Mint Aero, and yes, I have Fox's Party Rings! I have no idea how many packs of those I got through last year, probably 20 or so, lol! I love them =)

And lucky me, I'm British, and they're in all the shops!

A customer agreed that the Brits have the best chocolate and then, she said, "It's why we have such horrible teeth."

What are After Eights?

I'm lucky I have Publix. Their British selection is getting slowly larger and larger and they carry both Fox's and Milky Bars and Jammie Dodgers. Crunchie was from a different British customer. I was even reading a magazine article where an actress complained about the US not having Heinz soup and Tweeted her that Publix did, lol.

After eight mints, thin, square, dark chocolate over mint creme... *drools* I love chocolate and mint together, even though chocolate usually gives me a migraine.

They're a lot thinner, but the principle is similar. The mint creme filling is softer and quite sweet, but not too much so. I love them, but then if it's mint and chocolate together, that's a given, lol!

Have you tried those Turkish Delight thins? Same deal as After 8s, but turkish delight filling instead.

Delish.

Yeah, they're really good too! I have to avoid eating too much chocolate though because of migraines *sigh*

Sympathies.

I have to avoid them because if I get a box I'll have just-one-more until they're all gone, and then I feel bad about having eaten a whole box in one sitting.

... and now I'm remembering last Christmas when I got a mountain of them on clearance after Christmas in the supermarket for 25p a box...

That was a good January.

Chocolate at bargain prizes is always a good thing! I'm having to pay a pound a box for my After Eights - still a good price though!

I can post Crunchies, Milky Bars and Party Rings to you for birthday/Christmas presents if you'd like. :)

Oh, thank you for the offer!

Publix actually sells Mily Bars and Party Rings, that's how I was able to try them. the Crunchie was from a customer who has her brother send her a care package from home 2-3 times a year.

So, I'm going to investigate sources for the Crunchies. It's like a British Butterfinger!

I think a lot of it is why Mexican soft drinks are better...because it has real sugar and real ingredients without relying on all that artificial stuff.

Yummy to Milky Bars. :)

What is throttling?

Throttling is when my phone has 4G speed UNTIL I've used 3 gigs. Then, I only get 2-3 G speed until my new monthly billing cycle. I usually burn through my 3 gigs in about ten days, leaving three weeks of slowness.

Cadbury's was bought recently by an american company. And they're changing the recipes of t heir British chocolate to US chocolate.

And as a result their chocolate now tastes like puke and chemicals. And sales are collapsing.

Which is to say, yes. British sweets are usually much better.

Ugh, that's so disappointing to hear but maybe the falling sales will make them change it back.

I also like that when something is EU approved I'm almost guaranteed I can eat it since I wasn't supposed to have artificial sweets because of my Epilepsy but now it turns out my mom and I are allergic to most of them so that's extra incentive.

The main ingredient is now corn syrup and palm oil. Cabdurys chocolate never used to include either of those.

UGH! My mom and I try to avoid palm oil for ethical reasons.

We got a box of Cadbury's Quality STreet over c hristmas, opened it up, and just the weirdest vomit-tinged chemical scent came out of it. And just... yeah. They went in the bin. And they were mostly palm oil and corn syrup. Couldn't even be described as 'chocolate' anymore, it was 'chocolate analogue' on the ingredients.
