cultural misunderstanding jokes of the lowest possible denominator That was one of the big turn offs for me with the advertising. That and I am an animation snob. Disney for me. lol....... Hugs, Jon
I just can't bring myself to see it, because I loved the book it was based on and the movie bastardized it six ways from Sunday.
The book is marvelous, and so very funny-- well worth reading. But it looks as if the movie took the target audience from agest 10+ to ages 4-8, and completely altered the storyline (and the appearance of the Boov). And also added music. And gave the voice work to a celebrity rather than a talented child actress.
Was it fun, if you didn't know any of the background?
I'm sorry that you only watch Disney. There are some wonderful films they had absolutely no part in like Kiki's Delivery Service, The Secret of Kells, The Triplets of Belleville, Kung Fu Panda 2, Coraline and An American Tale.
I have liked some animation that wasn't Disney. :p The Secret of NIMH. Once Upon a Forest. All Dogs Go To Heaven. The old Peanuts movies. :) I wish the new one had stayed in the same style.
