Crazy late-night fights going on right now, it's pretty nuts. For those of you who don't know, here's what I know. Jay Leno is going to go back to to 11:30, uh, Conan O'Brien was offered 12:05 and he said, he said he didn't want to do that, he said it wasn't fair to him, it wasn't fair to me which was very nice of him to say.
(Jimmy sounds choked up, crowd applauds and Jimmy takes a drink)
So, I went to you guys to let you know how I feel about this whole thing. I, uh, I'm happy to have a job. I really am. Uh, I have a lot of fun doing this show, uh, we all do, but it's kind of weird because these are two of my heroes and two of my friends. Uh, I know that I was on his show so many times before I was even at this job and when I got the job, he gave me so much advice as did Conan, Conan did, too, and Conan O'Brien, if he didn't kick ass here for 17 years, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't have a job so I love them both.
(Jimmy definitely sounds and looks shaken up by this point and crowd applauds)
It's the weirdest thing for me. I feel like I met a great woman, I got married and now I'm finally getting to meet my in-laws and they are crazy!
But anyway, I love being here and I'm going to do what they taught me to do which is have fun, keep trying new things and don't take anything too seriously so that's what I'm going to do. Thanks for letting me talk.
I actually took out a few "uh"s. Poor guy was so nervous. Releasing a written statement would have been so much easier but I think he just wanted to get it over with. I think we've all been in that situation before where two of our good friends are fighting and you're just, Leave me out of it! but all your other friends pressure to take a side anyway.
