One of the first textbooks I ever bought for college that was Major related opened with a passage describing how times were changing. To illustrate that point, they described the new partnership between the Tampa Tribune and WFLA. To have Tampa in a textbook was pretty amazing...to have that history be right across the street from your college?

Yeah, it was cool...but it didn't last. They could never fully synchronize. Maybe it would have been easier now in a tablet world where we almost have a digital equivalent of The Daily Prophet...read the article while the photos come alive beside the words.

In the oldest corridors of my university were pages from some of the earliest editions of the Tampa Morning Tribune describing that very building.

It's sad although it seems that the St. Petersburg Times actually predates the Tribune by 8 years so I can't totally complain about the loss of history.

Pretty cool to get mentioned in a text book like that.

I find I'm usually saddened by 'progress' these days. Bigger businesses gobbling up smaller ones, everything getting more impersonal, until the world we were born into isn't the one we're living in. Oops, old person here, lol.

But I think it's important to keep an eye on some of these changes, especially where journalism is concerned.
