Anyone else watch Preacher?

I knew it was supposed to be intense but no one warned me about the graphic biting.

I still want to continue watching it though.

I read the graphic novels/comics while they were coming out; I feel a little iffy about the promos and etc. that I've seen, because Jesse doesn't look like that (love Dominic Cooper, but he was a different type in the comics) and Tulip is a blonde, and all of those nitpicky things that I'm sure I'll forget once I've watched the first episode.

Vampire biting but not like they did it on Buffy but more like The Walking Dead with blood and flesh spewing everywhere.

In college, in 2002, I had a friend who LOVED the comic books and whenever there was a rumor that it was being made into a film, she'd explain all the reasons why it would be utter blasphemy...that they'd tone down the violence, the sex, the gore, the Atheism.

So, I was prepared in every way...except I didn't remember her saying anything about vampires. I assumed the gore would be in a regular Tarantino/Scorsese way.

I love Tulip! She was one of my favorite parts of the premiere...almost makes it worth it that they killed her off Agents of SHIELD...almost...
In some ways, Cooper was his usual self but damn...in a lot of ways, it was his best acting ever...and his accent was pretty flawless, too.

They did a better job with Tulip than they did in the comics, where we heard she was badass but didn't really get to *see* it. And there's somewhere they go with her in the comics (not her fault, something that is done to her) that I'm assuming they won't do in the series, so that will help me shake off the rest. And I'm so embarrassed that I didn't recognize the actress until someone IRL pointed it out to me; I did wander off from first season AOS, though, and only wandered back for J. August Richards and Hayley Atwell appearances . . . until boring predictable good-looking agent guy turned out to be evil and it was clear I'd written it off too soon.

Dominic Cooper is just not "my" Jesse Custer, though. The visual I got of him from the comics is someone who's tall and lean and rangy and has stubble, not a beard, and cheekbones, not Cooper's roundish (adorable, admittedly) face. He may win me over with his performance, but he's too far from my conception to have done it yet. (FWIW, he *is* my favorite Howard Stark; John Slattery's Howard hasn't been onscreen enough for me to have a solid sense of who he is, so he just kinda seems like Roger Sterling with a 'tache.)

And I really, seriously, don't want the show to keep slamming "isn't Cassidy just so fun!" in my face, mostly because of something that happened in the comics which made me hate him.

I'm glad Tulip was improved. (shrug) I've watched every episode of Agents of SHIELD except 1.

Sounds like comic book Jesse was the stereotypical Texan, hehe...My love for Dominic Cooper actually predates Howard Stark...it goes back to PBS showing the BBC Sense and Sensibility where he was Willoughby. I was so pleased when they cast him as Howard. I thought it was absolutely perfect casting...and we better get him as Howard in the future! I'm a bit worried between Agent Carter being canceled and Captain America: Civil War seeming to wrap up all those characters from The First Avenger.

I have never been a big Mad Men fan so John Slattery is still Will's brother from Will & Grace to me...I remember thinking how good looking he was...

Cassidy kind of annoyed me from the get go for some reason...like he's one of those guys that's totally two faced...

I dig what I have seen of the show, though I have not seen much of it.

The second episode was just as good if not better!
