Say what you will about the Yankees or buying championships, but all my life, any time that anyone in the Tampa Bay community needed anything: money to go to Washington, DC, money for their ball club, Democrats and Republicans for their campaigns, money for school bands, that man was there. George Steinbrenner even founded a foundation to help the spouses and children of fallen officers financially, especially with college and gave money to the official charity of the Red Sox. When Tampa didn't have the money to pay for fireworks nine days ago, he paid for them himself. It also happened to be his 80th birthday.
I hope others take up his example of charity.
