Lula
"No, no, no Faba you, Faba me," Iefan complained and helped the plush creature away from Lula's eager jaws. The toddler rolled the blue dog so Lula chased after it, barking. Then, he clutched Faba tightly to his chest. Jack wondered how much he remembered of that Doctor. He looked much different now, so very young and Martha claimed to have met yet another version after him. Iefan grabbed at the fabric of the couch to pull himself up, but he was still holding Faba. Jack pulled him up beside him. He did like the extra time with him, but he couldn't help wondering what Gwen and the others were doing. It had also come as a surprise how much of a crutch the drinking had become. The urge came every so often to have a glass, but he wasn't about to sneak into his daughter's room especially when she was having a nap on the bed. Tomorrow didn't help matters either. Tomorrow was March 20th and no matter how he tried to convince himself it was a fake date with no meaning...it felt real enough to him.
"I love you," he whispered and kissed Iefan's brow just above the little scar.
"Yes, taddy," Iefan agreed and hugged Faba instead of him. Jack assumed it was a phase.

"Noodles by candlelight?" Emyr asked and his brown eyes were inquisitive.
"We haven't had a proper date in a while and this was the best I could do with the funds at the moment," David explained with a smile.
"But?" Emyr prodded which made David smile more...his future husband really did know him too well.
"I have some tutoring lined up with some students in sixth form," he announced and Emyr wrapped his arms around him.
"That's fantastic!" he cried and David nodded. He asked some of his former teachers if they knew anyone and it had been set up through them. Emyr's lips met his and they kissed, David moving his hands up to Emyr's neck. His fingernails scraped along in a light manner. Emyr started undoing David's buttoned shirt. David knew he'd been hard to live with the past few months: that between the arrest and his mum and everything else he was lucky that Emyr still put up with him, still loved him, and still wanted to marry him. He wanted to show him tonight just how much he loved him back and appreciated all of it. When David's shirt hang loose off his shoulder, their kissed resumed and it felt so good to be in his arms.
"What about the noodles?" David asked and nodded towards the table.
"They can wait," Emyr said, letting go of him to blow the candles out.

Rhi woke up when the car parked and there was a click of the security system. She got up to look out the window and saw Jack along with Iefan. He hadn't called ahead. Rhi rushed back to her bed and in a couple of minutes, she heard someone knocking at the door.
"Mum, Jack and Iefan are here! Mum! Mum! Mummmm!" Mica screamed and knocked on the door some more. Sometimes, she acted mature for her age and sometimes she acted just like a fourteen year old. Rhi took the pillow and laid it over her head. Somehow, she fell asleep again because she didn't realize somehow had come into the room until Johnny was sitting beside her and laying a hand on her wrist. She groaned and opened her eyes.
"You don't want to see Iefan?" he asked in a soft voice. They both knew how much she loved that boy even if Johnny didn't know about Iefan really being Ianto's son.
"No," she uttered and Johnny took the pillow away.
"Why? What's going on?" Johnny asked although she didn't want to say it aloud. However, it was Johnny, her husband.
"I don't want him to see me like this," Rhi admitted, "I'm pale and my clothes don't fit anymore. My jeans slide off and...and my hair's falling out and I'm tired all the time."
"You know what I see?" Johnny asked, taking her hands, "I see a courageous woman who's going to beat this thing, but right now, she's utterly daft. Iefan doesn't care about any of that; he just wants to see you. He's asking about you downstairs."
She hated the thought of the little boy being disappointed. However...
"Remember after we were dating and my mom had that accident?" Rhi asked although she doubted he could forget that. It was not a pleasant subject for either of them.
"Of course, your dad came round to my flat to find you and there we were on the bed, I had to throw on my jeans so you'd could act like you were in the loo. Then, all four of us went to Emergency, but the way your dad was looking, I'd thought I'd end up in the morgue," Johnny spoke, "He kept playing with that hat of his and not saying a word."
It was the only thing that could make her smile about that day.
"Then, you must remember what it was like to see my mum on all those machines and Ianto...he tried to leave but dad stopped him, held in place for all of it. He was only thirteen. I know he wasn't much younger than Mica, but he grew up that day. You remember how he was after that? Different especially when she recovered enough to go home and...and everything else happened," Rhi said, shaking her head. Johnny sighed and nodded.
"That's when he started having rows with your dad and me and dressing strange and nicking stuff," he agreed and memories of it all passed through Rhi's mind.
"I don't want anything like that happening with Iefan, I just want him to think I'm sick but not see me. He'll just get upset and..." she said before Johnny stopped her.
"He's already upset. He wants to see his aunt. You're the closest thing he has to a mum," Johnny argued and she almost told him the truth; that Jack was his mum.
"I don't want him seeing me like this. When I'm all better, then he can see me," she stated and Johnny gave her a glare, but she didn't care.

Alice shut the door of her brand new silver Audi. She decided she should have something in case her dad wasn't around. Alice knew that the two were home because his BMW was on the street. However, they didn't come out when she started up the walk or opened the door. When she found them, they were on the couch together. Jack was using the old DVD player and a fuzzy home movie was playing. Her dad and a young man were the focus of the scenes. He was quite young with dark hair although she found his blue eyes and smile very familiar. Alice thought she knew who it must be.
"That's Ianto, isn't it?" she asked and her dad nodded.
"Yeah," he told her and she sat down beside them. She'd only lived with him for three weeks, but she couldn't recall his doing this before. Was it because he quit drinking or the suspension or...?
"Is it his birthday?" she asked and played with Iefan's curls as her bracelets clacked.
"No, it was...," he paused and looked at the toddler, "it was our anniversary."
"Come on, we should go someplace. I have a new car that needs driving. We could even go to London..."
"Not London," Jack interrupted as though she wanted to poison him, "but Iefan hasn't been to a playground in a few days and we could eat someplace."
"Play!" Iefan shrieked and stood up on Jack's lap. When he shrieked, she felt the baby move and kick. It put a smile on her face although her dad looked so sad. He must have really loved him. She'd never let him this close with her first pregnancy. Attending an appointment with her would have been out of the question, but was that part of the problem? He hadn't been attached enough to Steven? Or would he have done it anyway? Part of her hoped he wouldn't have done it. The other half knew he would have done it regardless because of all those other children at risk. Still, if it cheered him up some, it would be worth it.
"Dad, feel this," she said and took his hand so it rested on her stomach. Then, she kicked. Her dad grinned and Lula jumped on the couch.
"Off the couch!" Jack yelled and the puppy hesitated before jumping off. Iefan giggled.
