"My favorite part!" Amy squealed as she opened the doors of the TARDIS. Outside was a desert world; barren and dry.
"You said there was going to be a beach. I'm wearing a bikini," Amy complained as the Doctor pushed past her. She had even put on her strawberry scented lotion.
"There was...I suppose our timing could be wrong," he admitted.
"Again," Rory added in his swim trunks.
"What's that there?" the Doctor asked. Amy noticed what he had seen: remains of a wreckage. No one could have survived that, but it didn't stop him from investigating. Amy hated being left out so she followed after him. Then, they heard a faint mewing sound.
"Oh no, pet smuggler," the Doctor declared with distaste and a sigh. The bodies of small creatures Amy had never seen before littered the ground along with a large humanoid arm. Still, there was that sound. Rory reached a hand into the debris to pull out a twisted cage. Inside was a blue animal similar to the dinosaurs at the museum she had gone to as a little girl.
"Aww, he has to come with us," she said as she took it from Rory.
"But...but..." the Doctor started and she raised an eyebrow. Did he really expect someone else to come rescue it?
"Not going to win, mate," Rory told him.
"Fine , but it's not staying," he said, heading back to their ship, "and I'm not taking care of it."
Amy had already decided it would be staying. It would just take some convincing on the Doctor's part. She giggled at a strange sensation and looked down to see a green tongue licking where she had missed rubbing in the lotion well.
"Someone has a sweet tooth," she said and carried him in. She started trying to take apart the cage, but the cage door wouldn't budge.
"This isn't one of those spacey things, is it? It'll shock me or something?" Amy asked as she went to where the tools were.
"No, looked like the smuggler was low tech," the Doctor spoke and ran his screwdriver over the creature through the cage bars, "but it's dehydrated and malnourished."
"I have some candy in my bag, he might like that," she said and found what she thought were pliers.
"No, I tried those on my sandwich. It seems to fuse things together," Rory spoke so they looked together.
"Why does it have to be on the bottom? This would be so much easier if you let me use your screwdriver." Amy said and brandished the device.
"Which you dropped last night and nearly started an intergalactic incident by ruining the princess of Kerrigan's favourite shirt," the Doctor spoke, "but he doesn't seem to care for these candies."
Amy had a better look at the container he was holding and opened her mouth in disbelief.
"Those aren't candies; that's my birth control!" she spat and rushed forward to take them. However, she saw that almost the whole supply was gone.
"I thought they were mints. No wonder they tasted strange," the Doctor spoke.
"You ate my birth control?" she asked and shook her head. Rory laughed behind her.
"Okay, first, we get Steggy some food and water. Then, we're going somewhere for supplies," Amy said and started to cut through the metal on the cage.

Carie and Haras
"Look, 'This red button doesn't do anything - press it and see!'" Carie read off the little sign in the corner.
"I bet it really doesn't do anything," Haras told her, because he enjoyed acting like he knew everything, "and it's been a while, the moron twins should have moved onto other prey by now."
If those two hadn't been chasing them, they never would have come in here. Even their parents never came in here. It was an old antique store that was dark, smelly and the shopkeeper had an odd stare.
"I dare you to push it," Carie told Haras. She narrowed her green eyes and grinned. You couldn't turn down a dare. It was one of the rules of the Apple school they attended: not an official rule but enforced on the plyaground.
"Fine," he agreed and pressed the red button.

Across town, Owen Harper had a problem.
"I had them. I just set them down, right here," he said and pointed to metal post. Ianto smirked and Tosh asked, "You put the keys on the auxillairy power transpondent?"
"We don't know for sure that it is really...that," Owen retorted, "It's not like Jack's around to tell us."
Impressive boss, that one, leaving them alone for a month with no instructions or anything.
"I think it's just further proof that the women should drive," Gwen spoke and by 'women', Owen knew she meant herself.
"Look, I'm fairly certain they couldn't have walked off by themselves so they have to be somewhere," Owen told them.

"Look, keys!" Carie cried and reached for them. They weren't just car keys. A couple of the keys weren't like anything she'd ever seen before. She didn't notice the shopkeeper coming closer.
"No, let's try again for something better," Haras spoke and pressed the button again.

"See, there they are," Owen pointed out and picked them up, "Time to get some Weevils."

"It's broken," Carie complained after they had both pressed it five more times. Nothing else came through and as they left, the shopkeeper looked downright grumpy.
"That Bilis Manger is a strange one," her brother spoke as soon as they were on the pavement and the door was closed behind them.
