Date: 2011-02-16 05:22 am (UTC)I have seen Office Space, the BluRay tempted me repeatedly at Target but I need to save my money on others things: Tangled, Deathly Hallows, etc. Stephen Root FTW!!!
There are several books where if people tell me they've never read them and they're over 21, it's like...were you raised on Mars?
They are Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Little Women and To Kill a Mockingbird.
Here's my book list:
http://ericadawn16.livejournal.com/161532.html (http://ericadawn16.livejournal.com/161532.html)
Okay, I put the album on the list. I tried to listen to them through Youtube once but the audio quality is crap on there so maybe I'll get lucky with GrooveShark.
I do watch Outsourced. It's cute and funny, I just haven't really had any occasion to post about it.
Although I almost did with my Aasif Mandvi post because someone did ask him about Outsourced. A lot of Indians are upset with the stereotypes. He said he wasn't that offended because at least there's a network show with a mainly Indian cast that's being shown every week. He also said it had some funny parts.
Some stuff can be cringe worthy but I think the Americans come off worse in it. I record it every week and I think it might be the only show I actually watch on a regular basis from the September premieres.

Date: 2011-02-16 06:03 am (UTC)Yes, TKaM is my favorite book of all time. I also have a hard cover of Little Women. They're classics. Haven't read HP or LotR, but to be fair, fantasy and magic is not my thing. I have, of course, seen all the movies of both and enjoyed them. Maybe one day I will have time to read them.
Outsourced makes me laugh. A lot. It's just the story of American culture, really. Everything being sent to India. But yes, Americans come off far worse in the show and that's what amuses me most.

Date: 2011-02-16 07:00 am (UTC)But it still has to be something really good to hold her attention for the weird stuff and she'd actually read all five of LOTR way before I did. She also read the first Harry Potter before I did. She felt LOTR was written quite well and HP was okay but she figured I'd like it more.
I became obsessed.
Almost two years pass, it's right after 9/11, the country's in a weird mood and to make things worse, I'm at college so she has an empty house to herself for the first time since...ever. She re-reads the first book and the second and all of them that were published at that point. It struck a chord with her especially the later books about persevering and not letting the bad things stop you. After the seventh one came out, she read them all again, plus, Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Date: 2011-02-16 06:02 am (UTC)I didn't know he had a book. That's a good song, I also like Californication off the same album but my favorite would be My Friends. They're one of those bands where I can't hear their old stuff without some memory coming to mind, like when they did Love Rollercoaster for the Beavis & Butthead movie and I was in middle school at the time so we all knew the dance to it: an actual dance with multiple steps corresponding to the lyrics! lol
I'm putting Bright Eyes on the list.
I may have to try Hawaii Five-O again. I watched the first two episodes and I love the cast for it along with the guest stars. However, the script and stories were meh, plus, they stopped repeating them on Saturdays when I'd watch. As it is, my DVR is maxxed out on Mondays at 10 with Castle and Skins.
I love pink.

Date: 2011-02-16 06:59 pm (UTC)Oh, yes, I definitely do not watch "Hawaii Five-0" for the script, hehe. I followed Daniel Dae Kim from "Lost."

baby, baby

I wanna ride, yeah

Yes, Daniel Dae Kim was why I watched it, too. I was also curious about Alex O'Loughlin and then, I'd heard James Marsters would be in it.

Good times.

Date: 2011-02-16 06:35 am (UTC)Down with Love? Own it, lol. Basically, if Ewan McGregor is involved, I'm there but that one I liked well enough that I even purchased the movie novelization. The ending is a bit different, more cutesy. I think the film ending works better. Fly me to the Moon was my ringtone for a year or two.
Hehe, so Niles Crane was actually based off Tony Randall in the 60s?
I've never even heard of that book so it's definitely going on the list.
I listened to the song a time or two forever ago so it's probably time for another listen.
Oh, and we skipped class once to get Harry Potter tickets...they were a sneak screening for the first one.

12. A memory you'd like to share (nice, funny, embarrassing, special, whatever!): Back in November 2008, I traveled all the way to Houston to see my sister do a bassoon recital at Rice University. When I hopped on a bus from the airport after flying in from Seattle, it made me homesick seeing no mountains on the horizon. I'd love to go back to Texas someday and visit more of Houston along with Austin and Dallas.
