The Child Access Prevention Law

"Definition: Requires adults to either store loaded guns in a place that is reasonably inaccessible to children, or use a device to lock the gun. If a child obtains an improperly stored, loaded gun, the adult owner is criminally liable.
Also Known As: Safe Storage Law"

It should be common sense, right? A responsible gun owner would have their weapon properly locked up and unable to be accessed by inappropriate people, especially children, who don't have the mental capacities to handle guns.

However, only 18 states have such laws:
California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Oh yes, that list DOES include Florida. Amazing, right?

Sometimes, the lack of common sense makes me weep too. And congrats on Florida being at least a little bit more safety-minded.

You would think with the number of mass shootings here in Colorado, our state would be one of them, but instead, in lieu of the new gun laws, some cities in my State are adding a mandatory gun ownership law; One per household. Exempt are minors and anyone who has personal objections to owning a gun, as enforcing this law amounts to mass conscription--and of course felons.

We live in country where where the NRA --using racist scare tactics and and just outright lies-demanded the "Right" to sell guns to persons who do submit and can't pass a background check, and they want to Blame the President for conspiracy to in mass shootings.

Hmm. As free as folks are here in the FL with guns, I am surprised our state has this statute. Wonder how strictly it's enforced though.
