So, there was some good Marvel news and some bad...

Good:

I love this article.

http://io9.com/5940888/weird-secrets-of-the-avengers-that-youd-never-have-guessed

3. When the Hulk is smashing Loki up and down, they inserted Tom Hiddleston's real agonized face.
This took a lot of shooting of Hiddleston looking pained, so they could paste it into the digital Loki. "We're not inventing how he looks when he's in pain," says Chu. "I had to get behind [Tom Hiddleston] and shake him violently," so they could capture his real expressions. (He mimes violent shaking.) "I did it so long, he started laughing. So we didn't use that portion."

This better show up somewhere...

Scarlett Johansson was on my TV tonight! CSPAN even! I loved her speech at Democratic National Convention. I heard rumors that Natalie Portman and Mark Ruffalo would also be attending but I never saw them.

Viggo Mortensen is rumored to be playing Dr. Strange in Thor 2!

I mean, Dr. Strange is AWESOME and to be played by Viggo?? In the same film as Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Chris Eccleston????

PLEASE LET THIS COME TRUE!

BAD:

Rephrase that...VERY BAD:

"ITEM UPDATE: The "Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One--Avengers Assembled Collection" will not be released by Marvel as we originally expected. We know this delay is disappointing, and we're sorry for any inconvenience this causes. Marvel is planning to offer a similar collection in new packaging. The new collection will include the original titles offered with the first version of the item, and we expect it will be available in the spring of 2013. Additional information will be available on our website and via email when available."

No mention of whether it'll be all 10 discs or just 6 like the international version or whether the files, PHIL!, will be included anymore...

There was this little boy, 5 or 6...definitely not more than 7 and he was so cute. He was wearing an Avengers shirt.

Me: So, you like Avengers?

Little Boy: It's the best movie I EVER saw!

Sadly, even though he's seven at the most, I really can't argue with this statement. I can only hope that the cold hard truth of most movies not being as good isn't too traumatizing.

So, I asked him who his favorite Avenger was.

First, he looked like Tom Hiddleston when you ask him to answer briefly. Then, he smiled and said, "Hawkeye! He's been my favorite forever, since I was four!"

Me: My Favorite is Coulson.

He immediately gives me the most saddest, empathetic look EVER. Even his dad is like, "Oh, that was sad."

Then, his dad adds, "You know, they're putting together a SHIELD tv show and it'll take place before the movie. They're saying it might be a vehicle for him..."

I know I should interject with "He's not really dead" or "He's played by Clark Gregg" but all I can think is Coulson on a live action regular basis?????

Me: That would be AWESOME!

I'm not sure if any of this will come to pass but it needs to...

You know you're both a little too obsessed when your mom asks about the duel between "Phelps and Loki" and then you start calling him Loki, too...

I'm really not stalking them...well, kind of...

They're just so cute and awesome...

Still, I'm thrilled. I told my mom this morning and we came up with this whole scene where she confronts Nick Fury about where Coulson really is...

Also, I've just been informed that the villain of Thor: The Dark World will be...

Chris Eccleston

aka Nine or how my mom phrased it, "the one before Tennant?"

On one hand, it's awesome but then...I also remember how he used to complain that all Hollywood would offer were villains and he'd turn them down...
Then, he was The Rider, Destro and now this...

Wow, I forgot how bad Loki looks at the end of Thor.

Actually, he REALLY resembles Rumpelstiltskin there...

Has anyone else read the Avengers vs X-Men with Natasha's fight? I have a lot of feels.

Has anyone read the Children's Crusade? I saw an ad and was confused.

I was watching an episode of New Adventures of Old Christine and they referred to Clark Gregg's character masturbating to an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer...

Last night, I had a dream that Tom Hiddleston and I were having a thing: making out, everything but casual. It was casual because he liked to hit on other women especially if they were already taken. However, he got it in his head that we should take a cruise. I tried to explain how I was poor and an affordable cruise was basically the Jungle Cruise at Disney. He was going to suggest that he'd pay for it. I could tell by his voice and words and everything which scared me because that's not casual at all. Then, I woke up.

On the plus side, not only did I get to make out with Tom Hiddleston in my dream but I TALKED! I talked a lot in fact and was even sarcastic. When I was younger, I never talked in my dreams at all.

Avengers again...Gee, it's good to see Avengers again...

Okay, I'm a bit behind with my posts...like a week.

Last Thursday, the nephews were away at Bible camp so we were going to use that time to see a movie. I had wanted to see Seeking a Friend for the End of the World but it didn't come locally. My mom was willing to drive but wasn't she wanted to see the film. After a discussion of whether Loki killed eyeball guy or simply maimed him and how funny the cane tripping is, she informed me that the only film that interested her was seeing The Avengers.

Me: Well, I did see it that time without you...
Mom: Or you could come with me...

Gah, I can't argue with that logic. Also, considering how it had left our local theatre, there were three films coming out last Friday and The Amazing Spider-Man on Tuesday, we were worried that this would be our last chance before it hit Parkway and the second tier theatres.

I'm not sure anyone cares but the Brandon AMC totally updated: seats more like Cobb and a soda machine with 75% of what you want, including Vanilla Cherry Coke. Alas, still no watermelon Coke...

This was also the first time I had seen the film on actual film. The other four times had been digital. While film isn't as pristine and crisp as digital, it does feel more alive, more unique. Each print is subject to its own special imperfections. However, you do sacrifice a few frames here and there depending on how fast the reel is changed.

When AMC renovated, they did add a bar to the audience. I always prefer the bar for my feet. I am both a bad sitter who can't stay still and not always tall enough to sit comfortably in some seats anyway. It's very annoying when you have to sit at the edge of a seat so your feet will rest on the floor. Anyway, the bar is closer than most theatre auditoriums which resulted in what felt like watching it on a larger screen. This is probably the closest we'll get to Imax. I was holding out for MOSI but they don't appear to show Hollywood films anymore. It's a pity, Avengers on a Dome Screen would have been AWESOME.

We both really liked how much detail we could see though, like I noticed that the Hulk actually has green blood. Some of it was dried from his nose after the Chitauri kicked the crap out of him.

Do I still need to warn for spoilers? )

I still don't understand how the Tesseract got to Earth in the first place. Was it like an older Loki making sure that Odin would send it to Norway just so Red Skull would find it and the time-line would be preserved?

For the record, The Avengers is now tied with The Sorcerer's Apprentice for seeing it five times in the theatre. My record is still seeing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest seven times.

P.S. With this viewing, I also started shipping Natasha with Steve.

The amazing spider-man

What I really want to say, I can't because I'm on my iPod and don't know how to spoiler cut.

However...

This film is a huge angst sandwich with a heaping filling of angst on the side.

The only time I really laughed was Stan lee's cameo.

I also had MAJOR Pheels and Phlashbacks.
MAJOR to the point where I was pissed off.

Now, I wasn't particularly excited other than two cast members and Marvel...
My mom has been eagerly anticipating. We are now watching The Unusuals to get "rid of bad vibes".

Or as she put it earlier, "we have seen six movies in six days and this was my least favorite by a LONG SHOT!"

She was so disappointed.

She implores you to see Avengers again instead.

is almost here.

Didn't I tell you like three weeks ago that the BBCA poll would come down to Tom vs. Benedict?

Since Wednesday is a holiday, voting is extended to Thursday and either late Thursday or on Friday, we'll have the final showdown.

Here's the current standings, including Loki vs Merlin and Sherlock vs. Watson.

Tom Hiddleston 59%
Colin Morgan 41%

Benedict Cumberbatch 59%
Martin Freeman 41%

Between the Cellist rumors and The Super Hero Squad Show, I've been falling for Scarlett Witch.

She's awesome...
and nearly impossible to find.

However, we do have this awesome antiques store in town, B's Antiques. Actually, it's the ONLY store antiques store in town but it does have a vendor who does comic stuff. They have two baskets full of buttons from 1985. I got a funny one with Thor, one with Hawkeye and one with Scarlett Witch. Yay!

They also had a numbered Loki figure/sculpture/whatever you call it.

Aren't parents supposed to encourage you NOT to spend money?

My Mom: You should ask how much it is.

Me: It's numbered and 15 years old.

My Mom: It's probably not that much.

Me: Where would I even put it?

I resisted, but I want to go back and get more pins. It's also amusing how well she's learned the different Avengers by sight but my mom has forgotten most of the X-Men.
ericadawn16: (Curious)
So, it turns out I was wrong. Natasha, Clint and the Skrull Soldier action figures are all out. I managed to find Hawkeye at Target but no Black Widow yet...

Also, where's the SHIELD love? Maria Hill and Phillip J. Coulson?

Anyway, Hawkeye is awesome. I haven't seen biceps that huge on an action figure since my brother's GI Joe figures.

They also have more Avengers books out. One is an Easy to Read book with sounds. However, not only does it only have the main four, it tells Thor's story without mentioning that he has a brother!!!!!

whatever

I do love the Seek and Find book. It has everyone, even Ghost Rider and Magneto. On the front, it has Natasha and Clint...less than an inch from each other.

Me: Look, they always have to be together.
Mom: Hmm...

I was also showing her the DC action figures especially the archers. When I showed her Artemis, she joked, "Green Arrow?"

"No, but there is a DC character with that name."

Mom looked totally horrified that her joke answer was real.

After less than three years, I think I have reached the pinnacle of Twitter success and it can only go downhill from here...

Clark Gregg replied to ME!

I'm still in utter shock.

COULSON!

I practically had a heart attack when I saw this in my inbox:
Clark Gregg(@clarkgregg) mentioned you on Twitter!

I keep wanting to put slayer...hehe.

So, I was looking forward to this: Howard Stark, Ramona, Wash, Celeborn, the other guy from The Hurt Locker and that bad guy from every other film ever made whenever Christopher Lee and Mark Strong aren't available...

Plus, the interviews claimed that Mary Todd would also be ass-kicking...

Unfortunately, they did lie about that but I did enjoy the film very much. Of course, hot vampires are a kind of weakness. There's a local commercial, in existence somewhere, for Queen of the Damned that proves this. It basically consists of clips from Queen of the Damned while I say things like, "Stuart Townsend is HOT!"

Mega spoilers, I spare no expense )

BBC America is having their own bracket competition except with sexy men. This week's matches include Tom Hiddleston vs Richard Armitage and Benedict Cumberbatch vs Robert Pattinson.

Of course, we know where this is heading regardless of the other matches...

CUDDLES DEATH MATCH!

I've had a few Avengers dreams lately.

First, I had this dream that Disney had finally built an Avengers ride. It was like a cross between spider-man and toy story mania. The ride guests were all recruited into shield, given training and then had to help the avengers with the help of big ass guns. It was awesome. They need to make this real. As part of the Shield training, it was all hosted by Coulson and afterwards, I was watching a video about how Clark Gregg also got to be a consultant on it.

Then, the next night I dreamed that Tom hiddleston hosted Saturday Night Live and it was hilarious but he kept cracking up so I knew they wouldn't invite him back...

Today, I dreamt that I was flirting with Jeremy renner. It was nice.

Every single time I watch the scene with Loki and Fury, I take it the wrong way. Fury always assumes that we're the ants but I always think we're the boot. Even the very first time when I didn't know Fury was building weapons especially for Asgardians like Loki and other trouble makers, I assumed humans were the boot. It's like how Thor describes the Bilgesnipe. We come in and trample everything in our path, trying to remake everyone into what we think they should be like...

When I worked at the restaurant, we had a group come in about every week...very, very Creationist. One Sunday afternoon, I said how I believed we were genetically pre-disposed to violence because if we look at animals, they all use violence as a viable option.

You should have seen his face, he was so pissed. He told me how we were NOTHING like animals.

I got the soundtrack for The Avengers. I don't know if you're familiar with the tracks. There's one called "The Promise". It starts either when Tony wakes up or when the news footage starts and covers the rest of the film. My mom was very struck by how sad it is and she's right. It's like Steve says in the beginning, "I wake up, they say we won. They didn't say what we'd lost."

The Avengers were finally able to work together as a team, they saved Manhattan, avenged Phil and for some of them, proved their worth but there were a lot of lives lost in New York, on the Helicarrier and the 80 people before that. Manhattan was almost nuked by a nuclear bomb. There's billions of dollars worth of damage. Other than the Hulk beating, we aren't even encouraged to be that gleeful about Loki's defeat. He's literally broken and since he reneged on his deal with Thanos, we learned earlier that retribution will be waiting for him so excruciating that "He will make you long for something as sweet as pain." Plus, Thanos is now encouraged to come to Earth himself...
