Skin Cancer is the most common cancer for dogs and the second most common cancer in cats.
Domesticated dogs and cats are NOT meant to be outside for hours on end especially in the sun. Not only are they exposed to ultraviolet radiation but diseases, other animals and cars. It's not a kindness to let them roam free.
For those who will be in the sun a lot, like dogs, there is sunscreen. Sunscreen should provided to all areas without hair or with sparse hair. Try to use sunscreen with Titanium Dioxide but
NOT Octyl Salicylate, Homosalate and Ethylhexyl Salicylate.
This product is specially made for dogs and horses:

It's also very important to groom your cats and dogs regularly so they're monitored for lumps and infections. Skin cancer in pets can be deadly!
