Oooo...pretty, but I'm too lazy to read the books. a) because Rowling screwed up and killed Sirius her mistake b) what the hell happened to the house ghosts...you know nearly headless nick?

Either way, I'm on a boycott, I refuse to read the book you tell me about it...*cires I love you Sirius! I lost all interest after that...*

Any way how's your French? I'm writing a Grovington, but Andrew speaks/rants in French most of the time...which is quite new and I'm exploring it, but my translator is shaddy...i.e...I wanted "how dare you!" I got "How challenage you!" any help? I'll hand it over to you when I have the first chapter ready for print...just needed help getting it out though...

Actually, I was impressed at how she connected the Grey Lady, Rowena Ravenclaw and the Bloody Baron in the seventh book...we find out how the Bloody Baron and the Grey Lady became ghosts!!

Sirius and his death were especially important in the seventh and...he did make a brief reappearance!

Ok, French, very rusty and novice, BUT...I have my sources so tell me what you need and I'll see what I can do...in a pinch Google is adequate.

Rowling is a doll when it comes to polts I'll say that for her. But still that's like saying James' death meant something for the overall plot!

Any ways...
I've got this idea, been floating around, in fact I was entertaining it when I should've been busy with my albino arc! Basically, Theo is captured, tortured and then returned to James in aboslute worst conditions poissible...by a slaver no less *Named Jocelyn and is absolutely loathed by Sparrow* so while Theo's taken a grand beating phyiscally, mentally his sprit is broken, and he's no longer himself.

The French comes in, when I realized MS word has a translator, I re worked everything to have a ranting French!Andrew, since I've never really spoken more than elementary Spanish, I never really explored his multilingual side. Until now...but here's my problem for example I wanted:

Mermaids, I speak of mermaids! How dare you! Look at what you have done!

I got:

Merimaids, je parle des mermiads, comment défi vous! Regardez ce que vous avez fait!

Which means:

Mermiads, I speak about the mermaids, how challenage you! Look and what you did

Some of that might be a literal translation like the mermaid bit, but the challenge bit? Do you know of a place that I can type in English what I want, click and button and it's in French the way it's meant to be said?

Well, unlike James who was stabbed by a fish person and never spoken of again, Sirius was mentioned and came back! If you would like, I could do an indepth explanation, including spoilers, of why Sirius' death was so important that it had to happen.

As for the French...well, that's the nature of translations. It's not like 1+1=2 and then 2 can be split into 1 and 1 again. It's more like turning an apple into a pie and then taking the pie apart for the apple pieces. The apple will never be the same again, it's been changed. You will never get your original English and the translated English to match up, not even with a native speaker...but I'll ask about Mermaids.

sirène

sirènes for the plural

My native speaker also says that it should be translated:
Sirènes, je parles de sirènes! Comment oses-tu? Regardes ce que tu as fait!

I enjoyed the email and will get to it within the week.

Well I figured that's the nature of translations, I do speak some Spanish after all.

But I thought, it was a little off in the translation, which had me rather put out. Because the last thing I wanted was to make the same mistake with this as I did with Spanish.

A~no which means year
vs.
Ano which means ass *Spanish this is* after that I learned the importance of accent marks!

Thanks for the help with the translation, and I look forward to how you've nit picked what I've written! Thanks for the idea of serious spoilers, but I don't want to be tempted into actually reading the book...:)
